February 1978

What Juliet didn't expect was to, first of all, wake up to a new day. She truly believed she was done for. And it really took her a few minutes to realize she was alive and potentially safe.

Another thing she did not expect was for a child with short, spiky bubblegum-pink hair to be the first thing to greet her when she opened her eyes.

"You look awful." The child said.

Juliet stared at her. She was amused but she didn't have it in her to smile. She knew herself to be in a safer place than she had been in months, yet she still felt unsafe.

She was in horrible pain and wondered if Remus felt that way after every full moon. She didn't know how he could do it, she wanted to die.

Oh, Remus. He must think I'm dead.

"Are you hurt?" The child asks, getting off the chair and leaning her small body against the bed instead.

"Obviously." Her breath rasped in her throat as she finally answered the little girl.

"Why?"

"Because someone hurt me."

"Why?"

"Because they're bad people."

"Why do bad people always try to take over?"

"They want to be in charge and make the rules."

"Why don't they become mums?"

Juliet raised her eyebrows, finally showing the amusement she felt in the most subtle way.

"Nymphadora Tonks! Did I not tell you not to go in there!" A brunette woman walked in, hands on her hips, staring at the smiling child.

"But she likes me, mum!"

"I do like her." Juliet admitted softly, getting the mother's attention.

"Oh, dear! So very sorry about Nymphadora--"

"It's just Tonks." Nymphadora affirmed, hands on her hips.

"-she just doesn't listen sometimes. How are you feeling?"

"Everything hurts."

Andromeda rushed her daughter out, focusing on healing the girl to the best of her ability. There was a comfortable silence, it was the most peaceful Juliet had felt in weeks.

"I don't think I introduced myself properly. Andromeda Tonks."

"I know you, you're Sirius' favorite cousin." Andromeda wondered if it was sarcastic, but she couldn't figure it out, the girl looked indifferent. And in pain.

It was totally insane how the woman that was now healing her was related to the woman that was torturing her the day before. The differences between the three sisters were outstanding.

"Well, I know you too, Juliet Potter. Everyone has been looking for you lately." She paused. "You're very brave."

Juliet chuckled bitterly in response.

"You don't believe it?"

I don't think it's a good thing. That's what she would have answered, but she did no longer feel like talking. She didn't feel like doing anything at all.

"You survived my sister, I think that shows how invincible you could be if you put your heart into it."

"Don't put ideas in her head, Dromeda." Ted Tonks said, laying against the doorframe. His appearance that neither women noticed.

His wife rolled her eyes, feeding Juliet and giving her something to drink after she was done with bandages and potions.

The couple ended up allowing their five year-old to visit Juliet after they noticed her unresponsiveness. They thought that maybe their little bundle of joy would manage to distract the girl enough until she healed and was reunited with her family.

Andromeda was particularly concerned, because she had caught Juliet reaching for a knife with the little strength she had, and was swift to stop her. She didn't say a word though.

She could tell her sister had completely ruined the girl's mental state, despite her having made it out alive.

They needed to show her something to live for. They needed her family.

"Have you not told the elf to contact them?" Ted asked his wife as they were making dinner together.

"I don't know what he's done, I've expected them to come already but there is no sign of them. I wish they would hurry, she needs them."

"Mummy, there are people walking to our door." Nymphadora who was sat by the window pointed out, immediately having her parents on alert.

"Dora, baby, come here." Her mum ushered her child over, picking her up as Ted walked forwards with his wand up.

"Go to the girl and disapparate with her if it's needed." Ted instructed his wife, who was ready to object when they heard banging against the door.

The banging sounded furious and worried at the same time. Ted Tonks took a deep breathe and raised his wand, stepping forwards and occasionally looking back at his wife and child that simply stood there, hiding a bit behind the wall.

"Open the door!" Someone yelled.

"James calm down." Another voice was heard. "Andy, it's us."

There was only one person in the whole world that called Andromeda "Andy". And that was Sirius Black. She ushered her husband to go and open the door, watching as a big group of teenagers barged in, looking around hurriedly. Though one stood back a bit.

Sirius and Regulus were quick to greet their cousin while Ted put his wand away, going to close the door.

"Andy, you had her this whole time?" Sirius asked, frustratingly passing a hand through his hair.

"No, she's been here for four days." Andromeda shook her head, putting Nymphadora down and telling her to go play, so she wouldn't hear the rest of their conversation. "Bellatrix had her the whole time she was missing."

"Yeah, we know that much." Peter sighed, remembering the toe.

"You have no idea the hell she escaped, Sirius, she was all bloody and bruised when she was sent to us." She muttered to her two cousins, stealing glances at the rest of the group. "Where have you been? I've sent Dobby to tell you about it the second she was with us."

"He had trouble finding us in time, we keep switching bases because we're being targeted." A tall blonde with short hair explained calmly.

"He also had to go back so he wouldn't be suspected and tortured into revealing where she is. He found us earlier and we rushed here." Regulus continued.

Andromeda nodded, looking around. "Which one of you is the brother?"

A redhead gently pushed the messy haired-boy with glasses, who looked like he was about to cry.

"How is she?"

"Not good at all." The woman sighed. "I fear she'll be overwhelmed if you all go to see her at the same time, so let's just start with you now, yes?"
