April 1979

Regulus was the first to realize that the attack was a trap. He, who had been nervous to reveal himself because he was still presumed dead, watched in astonishment as the Death Eaters disappeared the second the group got there.

"What's going on?" James mumbled, looking around, anxiously.

"Prongs!"

The group turned, and they saw Peter, Lily, and Amos behind them, rushing towards them.

"You've heard too?" Sirius asked them.

"Has anyone seen Mary?" James asked worriedly.

"They weren't here for Mary." Regulus realized, his eyes widening in horror. "It's an ambush!"

"An ambush?"

"Oh no." Lily understood quickly. "They were keeping us away from Juliet. Where is Juliet right now?"

That thought could not last another second before Remus immediately disapparated, followed by James and Regulus.

"Find Mary and get her to safety. They've located us, and we all need to relocate." Sirius told his friends before disapparating too.

And it was absolute horror when they got back home.

Sirius caught a glimpse of Regulus yelling after Remus as he was running into the burning house. He froze, looking at the fire that was eating the house up. It was a matter of seconds before it was to collapse.

The black-haired boy stood there and watched his bestest friend in the world fall to his knees. He watched his brother take out his wand and attempt to put out the fire.

Remus ran up the stairs into the room where he had last seen his girlfriend.

"JULIET!" He called, but he could not even hear a whimper or a sigh. All he could hear was the crackling noises of the fire reducing the wood to ashes.

The bed was burnt, the dresser was burnt, the curtains were burnt, there was nothing but ashed in there, not a single silhouette left. He stared at the ground, eyes teary because of the smoke.

He coughed but did not give up. He looked in every room, in every space, and his coughs got terribly violent the second his eyes were set on a pile of ashes that was too big to have been an object.

When it dawned on him that his girlfriend and baby died horribly because they were stupid enough to leave them without protection, he let out a scream so full of hatred.

All he had dear to his heart in that world was gone.

Outside, the number of people surrounding the house had multiplied. It wasn't neighbours. Those weren't really in close proximity to the house. It was members of the order. They had heard, and they apparated right away.
