Gray watched her and the strange vision of her in front of him, talking with a smile to a large group of boys and girls.
She was surrounded by people besieged in the heartfelt conversations, but it felt off. Weird to see her with other people. She's always been alone up to now, always kept to herself. So what was going on? Why was she so talkative, why were her feet tapping rapidly against the floor?
He stared long and quiet as a stranger would, placing his fingers over his defined jaw with uncertain eyes trying to read what he was watching.
But then something proved him wrong.
His stoic face curled down, his eyes dropping.
It was just an illusion. A simple flimsy hope that was crushed by the one fallacy in his mind. She didn't want him around, and now she would never need him either. He was useless, and she did hate him.
Dark cobalt eyes shined and glistened in the light with her pretty smile. He sat up in his seat a little straighter, his lips parted from the breath she took away from him.
Even he wasn't that stupid or awful to take her now. He wasn't good enough to have the time he did with her, so he should just disappear. These people are better than him, they can love her better than he can. His eyes dulled out, staring at the blue-haired girl intently.
The more he looked at her, the more he distanced himself from the possibility of forgiveness.
It was over now. All he had was the memories they had, that was now forever history to the both of them. The memories he held so dear to his heart now grappled him like a knife stabbing him in the heart.
He was never supposed to burden her. In the end, he will never be a good enough person for anyone.
Especially her. And now, she was going to find a greater man. One that would treat her right, hold her close and never ever lie to her. That wasn't too different from her.
She had a golden heart that gave all it had until there was nothing left. She'd do anything, even die for the ones she loved.
He couldn't love, not without hurting them. Everyone, he loved never felt loved and he didn't know why he was like this. Why he made them feel like shit instead of important. He always fucked up. He was always sorry and pitied those who chose to stay by his side.
They had to be crazy insane to like being around a guy like him you know.
His dimmed blue tired eyes ran over her smile, her beautiful smile. Long blue strands of curly hair framed her rosy cheeks, pink rosy lips perking up into a joyous laugh.
A few strands of dark hair fell over his locked eyes, blinded in the light of Juvia Lockser. If he could see her smile like that by staying away, he would stay away forever. If she would just laugh and smile like that without him he wouldn't ever bother her.
Even if it hurt that she was happy without him. Even though he wished he could make her smile.
If someone dared to take it away, keep her from smiling or laughing he'd cut off their head and send it to her.
There was nobody else for him, he would never get over her. And since he knew he couldn't have her he figured he'd be alone until his last day.
He'd die alone. He would be fine with that. As long as she's happy it doesn't matter what happens to him. Even if the cold dark emptiness were to take his wrinkly saggy body with its red shining grin, he wouldn't regret that choice. He cares about Juvia so much that he'd choose a life that had no value to just hear her laugh one last time. Her blue eyes snapped toward his languidly, catching him in her grasp. Looking at her.
