My second week of school was just as stressful as the first. It seemed as though my peers were even more uncomfortable and awkward around me- except for Leisha. And Valerie Maddow- but she just ignored me. That was expected.

I found myself glancing at her during the two classes I had with her though. Studying her. She had a very confident aura about her. If she followed her family's footsteps in going into shady Politics and law, she would do well.

I also wondered if she was into women. Something about her told me that she was.

Just a hunch.

I didn't realize the upcoming soccer game was a big deal. The whole school seemed to be chatting about it though- it was the first game of the season, and we were facing Galicia, a country an hour to the west of Samaria.

Galicia. I've had some memories there.

I tried to push it out of my head and focus on the fact that I was going to see Jillian this afternoon. I couldn't outwardly act like I was looking forward to it- but I couldn't stop my mind from doing so.

Ellie and Leisha were going to go to the game as well. Helena was going home for the weekend to see her family, and Anna declined.

As Ellie, Leisha, and l were walking to the soccer field I decided to ask about Anna.

"Does Anna not like me?" I asked them, "She seems to be cross around me. Or not want to be around me at all."

"I've noticed it as well." Leisha said, "I was going to ask her about it but I decided against it."

"You know Anna." Ellie said to Leisha, "She can be a moody bitch. She has been since we started school."

"Is she homesick, maybe?" I asked.

"Probably not." Ellie said, "Her home is a bit...dysfunctional. I'll ask her about it when I see her next."

"Just don't say I brought it up, okay?" I asked.

"Of course." Ellie reassured me.

When we got to the soccer field, Ellie led us to the front.

"I'm okay sitting in the back." I said to Ellie.

"Please, no one would let you, a Duchess, sit in the back." Ellie scoffed, "We get front row seats."

"Also, Valerie Maddow and her crew tend to always like the furthest back seats of the bleachers." Leisha said, "I would know, my sister is friends with her."

"How can your sister stand her?" I asked Leisha.

Leisha looked a little taken back. "You really don't like her, don't you?"

Whoops. Don't spill too much about the rivalry, Lucy.

"I am not her biggest fan." I said, and then put on a smile. "Front row seats it is then."

The three of us sat in the front together as the girls on the soccer team stretched. When my eyes fell on Jillian, I immediately felt my stomach fill with butterflies.

She must have seen me watching, because she immediately caught my eye, smiled, and waved back.

A few minutes later, the volume in the stadiums got much louder- more specifically from the back of the bleachers.

Ellie and I turned around to see Valerie Maddow and her crew of about 8 other people.

Of course they're the source of the noise.

Maya, Leisha's sister, smiled and waved to us.

Valerie caught my eye and gave me a nasty look. I gave her a polite smile back, which she rolled her eyes at.
