Okay, so, I've reached 50 followers now! So, to get this started (because it's very late but I need to get this out) I'm just going to put in one of my old oneshots from before I got on here (that's where the title came from). Okay, here goes *deep breath*

Winter PoV

Winter groaned. He had no idea where he was, but he could feel warm SandWing scales pressed against his back and cool metal underneath him. He wondered faintly who it was with him. Ow. Winter thought, touching his head gingerly. After a moment he made himself open his eyes. The dragon behind him let out a groan, and Winter recognized his voice. Drowsily he lifted his head, wincing at a throb of pain which almost made him lie down again before he forced himself to remain upright. He looked down to see Qibli lying pressed against Winter, an expression of pain on his face. The SandWing was waking up as well, so Winter waited as Qibli let out a gasp of pain and tensed. Slowly, he lifted his head, his teeth clenched and eyes closed.

"Mmpf," Winter mumbled. "Moons, where are we?"

"I don't know," Qibli said tensely, opening his eyes. "Ugh, I don't feel so good. My head hurts and I'm dizzy and cold." He explained when he noticed Winter's expression. Winter swiftly twisted around so Qibli could lay his head down and still look Winter in the eye, curling around him. It wouldn't help him to get warm, but it might do something (and – since impulse was overriding choice – it felt like the right thing to do).

"Thanks," Qibli said quietly, putting his head down in the space by the crook of one of his wings. "I'm not as dizzy anymore."

Winter closed his eyes, waiting for a wave of pain brought on by the sudden, vigorous movement to pass.

"Winter?" Qibli said after a moment. "...are you okay? Is it your head? Lay down again; it won't hurt as much." Impulse overriding what his head was feebly commanding, Winter lowered his head onto one of Qibli's warm wings. Winter sighed as the pain receded but kept his eyes closed.

"I'm glad I'm not alone," Qibli went on. "This place would be completely unbearable if I had no one to talk to. I don't like one-sided conversations. And I can't think of any escape plans right now," he winced, "so all I can really do is talk. Therefore I need someone with me." He paused before, in barely more than a whisper, he added, "I'm especially glad it's you." Winter opened his eyes, feeling his face grow hot even though he knew they were alone. He looked at Qibli and saw that he truly meant it.

"No escape plans?" a high-pitched voice cut in, completely oblivious to what Qibli had added (which Winter was grateful for since this voice sounded like someone of the teasing type). "Oh goodie! That will make this much better. For me! Ahahahahaa!

Winter and Qibli scrambled up, twisting toward the door, which seemed to be made of painfully bright red light, to see their captor. Through the glow, there seemed to be a dragon-sized scavenger with an unnaturally pointed chin, but he couldn't see more than its slender silhouette in the growing darkness beyond.

"You can understand us?" Qibli asked. He swayed a little on his feet, so he halfway unfurled his wings to keep his balance. Winter pressed one of his wings against Qibli's supportively.

"Yes," the voice sneered. "Since your brains are so similar to human brains, you are capable of speaking human languages like English – to simplify we'll call it Human for now – and the Miniaturization caused you to speak Human instead of Dragon. Now only the other captured dragons can understand you! Now let's test your fighting skills." Winter and Qibli exchanged a glance, but the scavenger continued. "Let's test on my robot first; I don't want you hurting each other before everyone can watch."

"How are we the same size?" Qibli asked, looking more confused than ever. Winter felt a cough waiting to escape, but he pushed it down, trying to keep strong.
