Okay, @acountwings this is for you! :) Hope it's not too cringe...
Winter PoV:
"Wake up!" a voice snapped. It was the scavenger from yesterday, the one who captured them and had been testing their battle skills. Winter jerked his head up in surprise. His head didn't hurt as much today, but it felt odd. He mostly was thinking in... emotions, colors. He still could think normally, but it was far less often than usual. He wasn't sure if it was why he was experiencing this oddness, or if the peculiar feeling was the source, but he was also feeling dizzy.
"Ugh, we're awake," Qibli yawned, lifting his head. He opened his eyes and looked at Winter. "Uh, you okay?"
"Enough dilly-dallying, let's go," the scavenger said impatiently. He pressed his paw to a box in his other paw and the door vanished.
"I think so," Winter replied, touching his head as they followed the scavenger along the cold hallways. Two of his robots followed them so they couldn't escape.
The scavenger led them outside, nearby a series of hedgerows. He turned around and faced the dragons, who were blinking because of the sudden exposure to the bright midday sun, smiling manically before turning to the robots.
"Take the yellow one to the other side," the pale scavenger said. "Don't let him get in."
"What are you –?" Winter asked.
"All you have to do," the scavenger interrupted, "is get to the other side."
"Just – to the other side?" Winter asked, confused.
"Oh, you'll see," the scavenger replied annoyingly. "Go on in." Winter shrugged and walked into the space between the hedges. He noticed as he walked that everything seemed to be a light orange color instead of its usual greens and browns. Suddenly a young NightWing jumped out at him. Without hesitating, Winter pinned her to the ground and knocked her unconscious. He didn't want to kill her; she was just as much a prisoner as he was. He continued along the path, which was growing darker orange. A few moments later a big brownish-gold dog crashed out and latched his teeth in one of Winter's wings. Winter growled with pain and whacked it to the ground, smacking his tail over its head.
A while later he had fought the NightWing and the dog, as well as three other dogs, a SandWing, a SkyWing, and a MudWing. It was almost impossible to see; everything was a bright white as he limped along the path. After a long while, Winter let out a yell. He couldn't see anything except the jade green that had replaced the white he had previously seen. Fear gripped him tighter as he twisted his head around but still only saw the jade green color. He ran forward, but instead of running along the path, he ran straight into one of the hedges. His breathing quickened with panic. How could he fight or get out if he couldn't even take five steps without running into something? Without thinking, he turned and charged along the wall until he crashed into the wall where it turned. The hedges were thick; he couldn't break through them. He realized that this wasn't exactly the best way to find his way out, but he just wanted to get out as fast as he could.
Qibli PoV:
Qibli was pacing beside the wall of greenery. He glanced up at the sun, which was going to start setting before too much longer. It had been too long. Winter should have been out by now; he could easily beat whatever the scavenger had thrown at him, surely? Suddenly Qibli heard something crashing from behind the hedges. A moment later Winter burst out of the hedges. He didn't look all right; he was bruised and scraped, but it was his face that worried Qibli. He looked absolutely terrified as he ran blithely forward, tears streaming down his face.
"Winter!" Qibli called, alarmed. "Where are you going?" Winter whirled around, a wild fear in his eyes that Qibli had never seen. He charged over to Qibli, nearly bowling him over before Qibli jerked aside, stretching out a wing to stop him. Winter smacked straight into Qibli's wing, which got him to stop running, but then he spastically tried to hug Qibli, but he missed, overbalanced, and flopped onto Qibli, sending him toppling backward to the ground, Winter landing on his chest.
