Okay, here's the last chapter of what I previously wrote. If y'all want, I can continue the story, but I've also got Drama to keep up on, so updates might be a little slow. (especially since updates on Drama are slow. ~250 words of 1000... *sarcastic* yay.) (the only reason I was able to get these chapters out so fast is because it's just copy, paste, add in the PoV markers, clickity clack, and then publish; I don't need to write much of anything) In the same book, I had a different oneshot of another "series"; it was of the JW playing ToD in a cellar in Possibility hiding from a tornado. However, that story would be in the 'ToD' part of the book, once I get enough dares. Aaaaaaanyway, y'all didn't come to hear me rant! On with the show - I mean - story.
Also, TW for - uh, gore? Blood? Injuries? idk, someone gets hurt pretty bad and I describe it pretty... grossly.
Qibli PoV:
"Alright, rise and shine," Zach snapped. Qibli jerked his head up, blinking. Beside him, Winter lifted his head and stretched his wings. "Today we're going to see how you deal with the maze." Zach raised a paw and pointed it at Qibli. Even though it had been two days, Qibli felt Winter shudder when the scavenger mentioned the maze. Two of the scavenger's robots floated up to Qibli and Winter. Leave him here, Qibli wanted to say. But since he couldn't, he waited until one of the robots reached for Winter and clawed it.
"Oh, now he's willing to fight. What, do you want us to leave your friend here?" Zach asked in an annoyed tone of voice. Qibli growled and nodded. "Fine, Zach-bots; leave the white one here." Winter looked at Qibli, but before the IceWing could say anything, the robots shoved Qibli out of the cave and into the hallway.
A few moments later they were back out in the sunlight and headed to the maze. This time Qibli was ushered onto the path between the hedges where he had seen Winter disappear two days previously.
"I'll meet you at the other side," Zach said ominously. Qibli rolled his eyes. You're not going to scare me. He thought at the scavenger, and then started into the maze.
Ten minutes later – or was it an hour? Or three? – Qibli limped out. There was a scavenger waiting there. It said something to him, but he wasn't listening. He followed numbly as the scavenger started forward, his robots herding Qibli forward. As he followed the pale scavenger, he spotted a NightWing watching him as he passed, a concerned expression on her face. The scavenger said something to her and she slowly retreated to the back of her cave. After a moment – or maybe ten – they reached Winter and Qibli's cave. The robots gave him a rough shove and Qibli jerked forward into the cave, stepping painfully on his injured arm and collapsing forward.
"Qibli?" Winter asked, lifting his head and turning his gaze to roughly where Qibli was. After a moment the IceWing stood up and came over to where Qibli was still lying on the floor.
"Are you okay?"
Qibli hesitated.
Winter PoV:
"C'mon, it'll be more comfortable over here." Winter said a moment later, grabbing Qibli's left arm and tugging him up. Even though he couldn't see the SandWing, he could tell that something was off about him. By the uneven way he was walking – even across such a small room – by the unusual lack of tapping answers or gestures to communicate.
By the way he was trembling.
Well obviously. Winter snapped at himself. Zach sent him through the maze. (He still couldn't think about it without shivering.) He's going to be thrown off because of that. He didn't have a chance to do anything before the SandWing burrowed under Winter's wing.
