AN: Here's the rewritten chapter.

There are a couple of changes, nothing major, except the last scene with Bakugou doesn't happen as it did.

Hehe.

They wrote in a notebook.

Ruptured eardrums, it said. That was the most probable reason. They didn't have a doctor on sight, and this was merely speculation. Aizawa wrote that he was also experiencing mild hearing issues, but Arashi took it worse since he was right at the centre of the explosion.

He refused to leave the training camp, even after Aizawa tried convincing him to do so. Recovery Girl would heal him in a moment.

He wrote back that this wouldn't prevent him from further training his quirk. He would get this fixed after the training camp. A ruptured eardrum can heal within a few weeks on its own anyways, and it was not like he was in any danger of forever losing his hearing.

They had Recovery Girl, after all.

_

He was excused for the rest of the day, simply for him to get used to...not being able to hear. He'd resume his training tomorrow. Bullshit. He could train even if he couldn't hear. It's not like his quirk relied on his hearing. What was he supposed to do now? Stay inside while the others did their thing?

No.

He won't do it.

.
.
Alas, the moment he stepped outside, he felt like he was in a dream. To see the leaves move, see the tree branches bend with every blow of the wind, and hear none of it? It was like a slap to the face, really. He walked, yet his steps made no sound. He breathed, yet he could not hear his own breath.

In the distance, he could see everyone talking, see them laugh, yet...he could not hear them.

In the distance, he saw Bakugou.

So he turned around.

_

In the morning, as soon as he woke up, he realised...he could hear. Not fully. Not even...close enough to be considered hearing, but...it was better than yesterday. It was as if he was submerged, and there were only echoes of sounds, but that was better than nothing, right? That meant...that his injury wasn't as severe as they thought it to be.

He noticed Aizawa looking at him quite often, but he ignored it. He wasn't useless now, was he? He could still use his quirk, he could still function as a human being, albeit with mild difficulties.

So he trained.

His quirk was silent to him. Its chirping reduced to mere flashes of white and blue. He watched the thin, blue lines as they spread across his skin, watched them reach his fingertips, and- He flinched, and his quirk flickered out of existence. Slowly, he flexed his fingers, and felt his chest throb as he watched them shake.

Gritting his teeth, he closed his hand into a fist.

Coward.

_

Test of courage, Aizawa wrote.

They would be drawing lots, to see who ended up with who. Thus Aizawa announced that the ones who failed the practical exam would be having lessons with him instead. Bummer. Not like Arashi was particularly excited for the test of courage anyways. it made no difference to him either way.

Wordlessly, he followed after Aizawa, whom was dragging Kaminari, Mina, Sero, Kirishima and Sato away.

When they got back to the classroom, Kaminari pulled out a paper and began scribbling something on it. Then, he showed the paper to Arashi.
