Chapter 14

Elina Point of View

6 Am In The Morning-

"What exactly are you doing here?" Edwyn asked, his voice sharp with concern as he arrived, clearly having heard about what happened to me the night before.

"It—" I began, but he suddenly grabbed my arm, his expression shifting from worry to anger as he looked at me.

"Why didn't you call me?" he demanded, his voice rising. "Look at you! This is serious!"

I quickly pulled my arm back, trying to diffuse the tension with a small smile. "Everything's fine now, Edwyn, so could you please calm down?" I replied, keeping my tone as soothing as possible.

But instead of calming down, his anger only seemed to grow. "How can you expect me to relax? Look at what happened to you! You need to go to the hospital, get checked out, and then file a lawsuit against that woman!" he insisted, his eyes flashing with a mix of frustration and concern. All I could do was stare back at him, unsure of what to say next.

"The CEO has already assisted me with this—" I began, but Edwyn paused, clearly taken aback.

"What?" he asked, his voice filled with disbelief.

"Last night, the CEO helped me. He drove me to the hospital, took care of filing the suit, and even offered me a place to stay," I explained, watching as confusion spread across his face.

"D-did he really do that?" he stammered, needing reassurance. I nodded, confirming it. He took a step back, processing the information.

"So, you didn't call me last night because Mr. Shin was already there to help you? You should've told me—I would've come rushing over! This isn't something you can handle alone," he insisted, his voice edged with frustration. I sighed, wishing things had gone differently. If I could have, I would've reached out to him last night.

Reaching into my pocket, I handed him something. His eyes widened in surprise as he looked at it.

"What happened to this?!" Edwyn exclaimed as I handed him my phone, which was crushed beyond repair and couldn't even be turned on.

"That's why I couldn't contact you last night," I explained, feeling the weight of the situation.

"How could this happen?" he asked, his voice filled with concern. I sighed deeply, feeling a bit defeated.

"Well... it just happened," I replied, my tone resigned.

"What do you mean 'it just happened'? It was already in bad shape, and now it's completely ruined!" he said, frustration evident in his voice.

"I... I accidentally threw my bag last night, forgetting that my phone was inside," I admitted quietly, avoiding his gaze.

His eyes narrowed, his anger simmering. "So you're the one who did it?" he asked, his tone incredulous. I met his gaze, unsure of how to respond.

"Maybe..." I hesitated, unsure of what to say next. I could hear Edwyn sigh, the frustration clear in his breath.

"So, where did you find the apartment the CEO offered you?" he asked, his tone a mix of curiosity and concern. I glanced at him, unsure how to respond.

"Oh, I don't like that look—just tell me," he urged, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"Well..." I started, preparing to explain.

A Few Moments Later

"How much do I have to pay to end the contract?" Edwyn asked the CEO, his tone firm, causing me to pause.
