Prologue
Two battles raged in the crystallized metropolis of Tokyo simultaneously.
First, high above the clouds, a fierce aerial bout of mythicals ground down into a deadlock. Kiara Takanashi and Boros tangled with the fearsome Apocalypse Bird in a deadly dance through the skies.
Apocalypse Bird screamed to the high heavens with Mumei Nanashi's distorted voice, baring its grotesque jaw to its foes. Shrill noises emanated from that large, toothy maw and sent shockwaves that pierced the clouds. Its ten remaining eyes scattered throughout its large body tracked its two flying foes who chased it with dogged determination.
The beast's eyes shot yellow beams of magic at its foes, arcing them like the talons of a bird before locking on to its targets like heat-seeking missiles.
Kiara and Boros dodged the barrage and closed in to strike at the rest of Apocalypse Bird's eyes. They promptly swooped in and tried to draw close, but the menacing mouth and sharp talons of the beast snapped at them. Kiara's sword and Boros' fangs would clash against the beast's talons before both sides broke off their attacks to try again, repeating the cycle.
Fortunately for Kiara, that cycle was about to be broken in their favor.
When Kiara and Boros pulled away from another aerial clash, they spotted friendly fliers approaching them in the distance: a squadron of twelve Vought F-8 Crusader supersonic fighter jets from the USS Enterprise.
The jets zipped past Kiara and Boros and followed through on the attack.
In just a heartbeat, Kiara saw the squadron leader of the lead Crusader jet give her a cheeky salute through the cockpit.
Kiara smiled and returned the gesture happily before she watched the fireworks.
The twelve Crusaders split up into three flights of four jets and began assaulting Apocalypse Bird from multiple directions. They took turns firing their internal autocannons and unloading their stock of air-to-air missiles, baptizing the beast with lead and flame.
Yellow beams of light shot from Apocalypse Bird's eyes to shoot down the newcomers, but it couldn't get a bead on any of them. Fighting a mighty phoenix and the serpentine Guardian Spirit of Time was one thing, but supersonic fighter jets were something else entirely!
Desperate, the beast tried to swipe at them with its talons or bear down on them with its toothy mouth, but the Crusader jets spread out their formation and continued to harass the cumbersome beast.
A fortunate burst of strafing gunfire and a well-placed Sidewinder missile blew out two of the Apocalypse Bird's eyes. While even more Sidewinder missiles peppered the beast, Kiara and Boros finally closed in on their quarry. Kiara drew her sword and slashed out two eyes in one sweep.
Then, Boros, gorged out a fifth eye and crushed it with his fangs.
Apocalypse Bird's fearsome cries became fearful. Its last five eyes shimmered with dread, so it flew away and held on until the jets ran out of ammunition. When the Crusaders retreated, the stalemate between Kiara, Boros and the beast resumed - all while the second battle continued down below in Tokyo.
...
Hundred and Ninth Scene - Duel of the Beasts
Beneath the clouds, at the foot of Tokyo Tower, Omega Alpha looked up to the sky and saw the progress of Kiara and Boros against Apocalypse Bird. Satisfied, she turned her eyes back to the earth and stared down the other great beast in Sparrowhawk's employ.
