"What time is it?" I asked myself getting out of bed. 6:30. I got up running to put my uniform on. "Damn it I'm late."
I grabbed my katana and ran past the kitchen. I never eat breakfast this days anyways. I felt as if when I ate, I ate a lot. A few times more than what I should. I'm not going to let my appetite get in the way of getting stronger. I grabbed my haori and ran out the door.
"Y/N!" I heard from behind me making me stop. I turned around. I saw the Rengoku walk up to me. (Hes going to be alive in this book because I cannt deal with his death) Probably the only person other than my brother and master to actually know about my existence. "Going to train already?"
"Ah, Rengoku. Yes. I have to train, if I want to have the title of hashira one day I must be fit to handle any job. Otherwise i'd just be aiming to stay as a rank kinoe." I replied. His smile grew as he chuckled.
"That's the way of thinking!" He yelled as he patted my back, almost knocking the wind out of me.
"Excuse me, but I have to go meet up with Giyuu right now." I told him.
"Alright then, I'll let you be. Don't overwork yourself." He warned me. I nodded and walked passed him. I walked up to the area where Giyuu had chosen for us to train in. I saw him standing there in the middle.
"Giyuu, I'm sorry I'm late. I've been irresponsible once again." I said bowing my head. He looked over at me not changing his expression.
"It's fine Y/N, it's not like if this has been an emergency. Have you eaten yet?" He asked. I paused for a second. He sighed and sheathed his katana. "We're not going to train until you eat."
"I am on my way to becoming a hashira. I've come up with my own breathing style and used it against demons, I just need to wait and I'll be ready for the tital. I know if I have to eat, you don't need to worry about me." I said sheathing my katana as well. Even with my points being accurate, I knew he'd still refuse to train.
"You used to have quite the appetite, where did it go?" He asked sitting on a rock.
"Where all the other useless things go, it disappeared." I told him.
"Are you hungry though?"
"No I am not." He sighed at my answer.
"Quit lying Y/N." He said standing up. I paused and stared at him.
"What makes you even consider that I'm lying?" I asked and he pointed at my hand.
"You're toying with the Sabito's print part of your haori. Just as you do everything you're uncomfortable or lying." He stated. I looked down at my hand and quickly brought it down.
"Fine, maybe a little but I was in a rush to come meet up with you." I said, it wasn't a lie.
"We'll eat something together then." He said. Out of a sudden there was a black blur. As it got closer I noticed its Giyuu's kasugai crow. It landed on his shoulder.
"Giyuu Tomioka! Master is holding a meeting, all hashiras must attend!" It squaked.
"Ah alright." Giyuu said. The crow flew away. He looked at me. "I have to go, but we'll eat together when I get back."
"Fine." I sighed. He turned around and left. I sat down on the rock. I longed to be part of those meetings so badly. I longed to be part of the group that everyone wishes for when their in trouble. I want to save everyone that I can. After about 30 minutes a figure came to my attention.
"Hey! What are you doing here, this is hashira training ground!" I heard, I looked over to the side and saw someone in the kakushi outfit walking up to me. I got up.
"Are you here to make sure it's clean?" I asked.
"Yes but that's beside the point! State your name and purpose!" She yelled. I sighed. Such a waste of time.
"Y/N Tomioka. Rank kinoe. I'm Tomioka Giyuu's tsuguko and I was here to train with him but he got called to a hashira meeting." I told her. She froze.
"Ah! I'm so sorry! I have never seen you before! I thought that him having a tsuguko was a myth! Please forgive me Lady Y/N!" She yelled kneeling down.
"Stand up. Nobody knows I'm here, I'd like to keep it that way. I don't want you telling anyone about me, I don't need people swarming me with questions." I told her walking past her. I could hear her panicking behind me. I tried walking quickly to not be caught by many people. I don't like telling them that I'm 'Y/N Tomioka', but it's on my record. I do think of Giyuu as a brother but I can't help but feel wrong. Sabito was my brother, but I basically lie about my family because we were orphans and I didn't have a last name. I took Tomioka and have just kept it that way to cause less confusion to others.
"Y/N!" I jerked my head up to see Amaru, my kasugai crow, flying toward me. I held out my hand and he landed on it.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"A demon slayer boy by the name of Tanjiro Kamado has been found to be traveling with his demon sister." He explained.
"Amaru, your job on these missions are to make sure to tell me when Giyuu is in trouble. What does this have to do with him?" I asked.
"Giyuu had been protecting her. Your mentor Urokudaki has promised that the demon hasn't and doesn't need to eat humans. But the promise was that if she is to eat a human... Urokudaki, Tanjiro Kamado and Giyuu Tomioka must kill themselves." He explained. I felt my heart drop.
"Thanks Amaru." I said letting my arm fall. Amaru flew off and I immediately ran toward Master's garden. I saw different people leaving, most likely hashiras. I saw Giyuu and walked up to him.
"Y/N?" He asked. I brought my hand up and slapped him across the face.
"What were you thinking?! You're risking your life for a demon Giyuu!" I yelled. He looked shocked, and honestly I was too. I'm not used to getting out of character like this.
"Y/N I have my reasons." He said casually. That made my blood boil.
"I don't just get news that you're on thin ice just for you to say that you have reasons! Tell me the excuses." I said. He stayed quite for a minute.
"The boy's family is dead. She's all she has left. She's also never eaten a human. And I know that you would do the same if you were given the chance." He explained. I paused suddenly feeling drained. I know what he meant, and I don't blame him. I'd kill for the chance this boy had.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to act up, I just- I just can't lose you too." I admitted looking down. He came up and patted my head, one of our signs of affection.
"Does Tomioka have a girlfriend?!" I heard behind me. I quickly took a step back.
"Oh- it's just you Kanroji. No this is actually my sister." He replied, there goes the secrecy.
"Gah! I'm so sorry!" I heard.
"It's fine, I'm Y/N by the way." I introduced myself.
"I'm Misturi Kanroji!" She said. I turned around and that's when I saw her.
