Chapter 3

I looked at the food placed in front of me. I felt myself starting to sweat.

"You ok Y/N?" Giyuu said almost making me jump. I see both of them looking at me confused.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I just told you that I'm not hungry. I'm going to go, you both enjoy your meals." I said pushing away the plate infront of me and standing up.

"Is something wrong with the food Y/N? I can make you something else if you dont like it..." Mitsuri said.

"Nothing is wrong with the meal, it looks great.Thank you for the invite and I'm sorry." I said bowing. I then rushed out of her place looking down the whole way. I kept running until I bumped into something. I lost balance and I braced for the fall. I opened my eyes when I noticed I was being held in place. I looked up to see Rengoku holding me up from around my waist. Another tall man looking over with his arms crossed wad behind Rengoku.

"Y/N! Are you ok?" Rengoku asked setting me up straight. I took a second to gain back my composure.

"Yes, I'm sorry Rengoku. I'm feeling out of it today.. again." I apologized not looking at him straight.

"Y/N, have you eaten breakfast?" Rengoku asked making me feel nervous again.

"Yes.." I lied. The tall white haired man behind Rengoku shook his head.

"Not a very flashy lie." The man said.

"Not very flashy of you to be butting into conversations you weren't invited to." I replied making Rengoku chuckle. The man looked down at me with a smirk.

"I like this one. Im Uzui Tengen." He introduced. I looked up at him for a second, wondering if I should tell him my own name.

"Y/N, Y/N Tomioka." I finally said making him raise an eyebrow.

"As in Giyuu Tomioka? He actually has a sister?" He asked making me sigh.

"We can get to the formal introductions in a second. Going back to the former issue, you haven't eaten yet Y/N?" Rengoku asked putting me back into the spotlight.

"Not yet." I stated.

"Well did you eat yesterday?" He asked. That made me freeze in my spot. I stared at the floor feeling drained as I kept playing with the hem of my haori.

"Well- I.." I started but couldn't find any words. I looked up at the two as they exchanged glaces.

"I'll catch up with you later Tengen, I have to deal with this first." Rengoku said not letting his energy falter. Uzui just nodded and left. "Walk with me."

"Ok.." Was all I muttered as I followed Rengoku.

"You don't have to look down Y/N!" He said putting a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and saw his signature smile making me relax a bit.

"Sorry, it's just that it's hard to talk about all of this." I said picking at the hem of my haori again.

"I know, I'm never going to pressure you." He said.

"Thank you." I replied. He shook his head.

"No need to thank me. But I do suggest that you eat, even if it's small portions of food." He said.

"I try, but I just- I can't bring myself to eat.." I explained. He stopped making me look back in confusion. He had a more serious face on as he looked me straight in the eyes.

"Y/N, I say this only because I care and worry for you. I think you should get some professional help." I took a step back after he finished talking.

"I can't." Was all I responded. He shook his head slightly and quickly went back to his regular happy energy.

"Your choice, again, I'm not going to force you."

"Thank you.." I responded. Suddenly I saw a slight movement in the trees near us. I pulled out my katana and turned around quickly. I felt the force strike against the katana as I looked at what hit it. Uzui stood infront of me, a nichirin blade being forced against the katana. I jump back only to catch Rengoku in the same stance I was in a second ago. Uzui and Rengoku both lowered their weapons and swiftly sheathed them. I looked at them for a second before deciding to do the same.

"She's got fast reflexes, you train this one too Rengoku?" Uzui asked putting a hand at his hip as if nothing had happened.

"Not at all. Y/N has all the credit for her own amazing instincts." Rengoku told him. I walked up to stand next to them.

"And Giyuu as well. You are forgetting I am his tsuguko." I reminded them.

"Yes of course. To have an excellent sense of sight isn't completely uncommon. But to have it as amazing as yours is a talent I haven't heard of in many. That is due to your own skill to enhance that." Rengoku praised.

"You speak to high of me Rengoku." I responded. Uzui put his hand on my head and ruffled my hair.

"Don't be so modest! You do have some killer instincts!" He said taking off his hand. I stood there annoyed.

"Thank you.." I said putting my hair pushing it back to fix it. I looked up and made a face of realization. "Are we not going to talk about how you just attacked us?"

"Oh! I just like to sneak up on Rengoku a lot!" He announced proudfully crossing his arms.

"Excuse me-? You know what, not my deal. Just don't go after me again." I told him. He chuckled and nodded.

"Y/N Tomioka!" We heard a yell. I looked up to see Amaru squaking and flying my way. I put up my hand and he lands on it.

"Yes?" I ask.

"You have a mission! You must head up north to a village a couple miles away to defeat a demon going after young children!" Amaru squaked.

"Thank you.. I'll be on my way.." I said. Amaru flew away. I thought about what he just said. The demons were targeting children, helpess children. I looked at both guys in front of me. "I'm sorry but must go."

"Of course! Good luck out there!" Rengoku exclaimed patting my back.

"Yeah! And don't forget to win in a flamboyant way!" Uzui said. I nodded as I turned around. I took off running to my mission, to the village up north.
