The welcoming warmth of the morning cudled her. She was a little bundle of joy yet no one was there to even wish her a 'good morning'. Her small eyes swept through the room searching earnestly for the little boy who happened to be her brother. And then she spotted him. He was sitting on the table having his breakfast. She wanted to go to her. But the maid was carrying her away from him. She somehow understood that he would hear her so she let out a small cry.
She saw his head snap in her direction and then his eyes quickly scanned the surroundings for their mother. When he saw that no one was there , he climbed down the chair and sprinted towards her. By this time the maid had already put her in a beautiful cot placed by the window. The light fell on her eyes through the open window. She wanted to block the light but she couldn't. Instead she squeezed her eyes shut. Suddenly she felt the light being blocked. Maybe someone has drawn the curtains shut she thought. But then she felt warm hands wrap around her. Her eyes were open in an instant and she was staring into warm brown eyes. She recognized the boy and his warm embrace. She hudled into him as if trying to get into one with him. She felt secured. She understood that he would not let her cry he would be her pillar for support, her safe harbour.
A small smile spread on her lips. But as soon as he had picked her up ,he had put her down and then she heard it footsteps, to be specific footsteps of a person who should be known to her yet was a stranger to her. She waited with sharp breaths for the person to come into view. When that person finally came into view, he was a complete stranger to her. She didn't in the least feel drawn towards him. He was walking with unsteady steps making his way towards somewhere but that was too much for her little brain to handle. She gave up following the person with her eyes and instead settled for staring at the little boy.
