Mason
Gracefully, i stick the lock pick Ace gave me inside the thick metal door round back of the building. I swirl it around as if I'm mixing a hot chocolate. I cautiously focus on hearing the click in the lock that tells me I'm in. 'Click'. I peak my face through the door to make sure no one is there, Macy says they will make sure no one is there. i tip-toe into the small room with multiple television screens and a dirty keyboard and mouse placed on a wooden desk soaked in paper and donut crumbs. i slip myself into the seat and feel the cold hard plastic climb onto my back. i feel the thrill swim through my body as I place the radio next to me and turn it on so i can hear the robbers.
Tyler
I follow Ace and Macy to the front door that leads into the reception. the double glass doors are illuminated by a neon sign hanging above. i look into the building meanwhile Ace tries to pick the lock and Macy stands guard. The walls inside are cream and beige, boring.
"What the hell is taking so long?" Macy aggressively whispers.
"The stupid lock is taking ages. Oh wait, we're in" he says. We ponder into the reception and Ace talks into his radio,
"Mason, are you connected to the cameras?".
"Good to go, over!" he shouts. Ace looks unimpressed.
"You don't have to say over idiot". mason doesn't respond for about ten seconds.
"Over". I chuckle and no one else follows.
"Ok, so you guys are in reception right now" Mason mentions.
"Yes we know that! where is the main office" Ace shouts.
"In the left door". We run through the door which leads us to a hallway with one door on the left.
Owen
I got vent duty. Not camera duty or follow the robbers and hold a gun, climb through a fucking vent and see where it leads. Ace said that one of the workers at the junkyard is planning to assassinate the leader of the dead revolt, Gabe. We didn't tell Ace and Macy that we are also in the revolt, I thought that they wouldn't let us help. I grapple my body above a pipe and push over on top of vent. I peak through the cracks and analyse the room below. It's small, dirty and has a planning board on the wall with pictures, red strings connecting them and red marker drawings on the pictures of Gabe. The robbers were right.
"Uh guys, I found something" I say into my radio.
"Where are you Owen?" Macy asks.
"I'm still in the vent, but the room below is pretty sketchy".
"Mason, what room is Owen in" Tyler asks. I hear muffling noises on the radio for about twenty seconds.
"He-" ,"roo-" ,"this fucking radi-" ,"the door on the left!".
Tyler
We dash to the door to be greeted with a passcode.
"Mason we need a code, is there a code in the camera office?" Ace shouts. Macy holds the rifle towards the door behind us in case a guard intrudes.
Mason
I franticly search around the room, under cabinets, inside cabinets even on top of the cabinets! When i finally find a small note under the keyboard containing a four number sequence, 4418.
"Guys, the code is 44-" I'm interrupted by a horrific scream from the telephone beside me. I freeze. My gaze is locked on the arrogant song before me.
"Mason, what is the rest of the code?" Ace asks. I sit unresponsive while i slowly move the radio to my mouth.
"The phones ringing" I whisper. I'm not sure why I whispered but I did.
"Answer it!" Ace shouts, "But be cool". Cautiously, I free the phone from its bed.
"Um hello?" my voice is shaky.
"Hi it's Polly here from the Joyful junkyard headquarters" her voice is so fake and happy, bitch.
"We noticed the cameras have been activated while you weren't meant to be working tonight". Oh yeah I'm meant to be a security guard right now.
"Oh yes i left my car keys here and i was just uh checking to see everything was running smoothly" i say in a deep tone. I'm surprised I came up with that so quick. There is a ten second silence. i gulp as she starts to speak again.
"Ok that's fine" her voice sounds suspicious. My arms start shaking.
"I thought your car was in the shop? i thought that was why you weren't in because you couldn't get there". My ribcage detaches from my body and dumps my heart on the floor. I drop the phone.
"Listen whoever you are we have sent the police to come down right now".
"Mase, What are they sayi-" and alarm cuts Ace off.
"Mason what the fuck!", "Mason give us the code quick!". My fear breaks and adrenaline takes the lead.
"4418!", "It's 4418!". I hear a beep through the radio.
"Holy shit".
Owen
Sirens phase through me. My ears ring and i cant hear anything. I look through the cracks and see Ace, Macy and Tyler standing in the room staring at the wall.
"Hey guys" i shout, pulling their attention to me.
"The uh vent won't open" i say. I thought it would open like in the movies but it doesn't.
"Who's in here?" a voice from a distant room gets louder.
"Quick grab the board lets go!" Macy shouts. I sit and watch them in fear.
Tyler
I run with the board faster than i ever have. Through the hallway and past an open room with a fat guard placed inside. It looks like he's trying to get in a door. then i realize, Mason.
Mason
I pace around the room as the guard throws his fists at the door. My only choice is to make a run for it. My body sweats as i place my arm on the handle and get ready to run. I take a deep breath. I open the door, slamming the guard into a wall. My feet go faster than my body and I'm flying, well it feels like it anyway. My toes burn from the speed. I notice Tyler and Owen waiting outside for me. As i catch them we toss ourselves behind a junk tire. The guard runs out , his head spinning.
Owen
Is this my story again? good. The guard has a confused emotion crawling on his fat cheeks. He stands on the spot, his pistol ready for any person who comes in his path. Mason and Tyler take cover behind the car not looking at the guard but I keep my gaze on him. He goes to walk back inside when all of a sudden a bang floods in his direction. I freeze in horror and fright. my fingers shake and my eyes shrink down to dots. My cheeks flood with tears. I see Mason and Tyler freaking out in the corner of my eye, meanwhile I still have my eyes locked on the corpse that lies on the ground. his blood is lit by the inside. The glass doors are soaked in red. The body lies on the ground a massive hole centred on his chest. I feel tugs on my sleeve but I stand in front of the body. I don't feel scared. I don't feel sad. I feel guilt. And I feel the guilt swim through my veins. He didn't know he was going to die tonight, his family didn't know he was going to die tonight, but he did and his family didn't get to say goodbye.
