Naruto couldn't believe that it was already time for the chunin exams. After his first mission, time had gone by so fast as they all trained and went on more missions that he wasn't able to process how much time had actually passed.
Now that the chunin exams are coming up though...I'm worried about what Gaara told me. As Naruto was walking to meet up with his team he thought back to a letter he had received from Gaara a little while back.
Naruto!
I don't have much time to write cause I'm leaving for a mission, but I've got to tell you something! I've been noticing something weird going on in the Sand Village, my dad is keeping quiet about it, but I've already noticed shinobi coming and going that don't belong to our village. I don't recognize them. They talk to someone and then leave without doing anything else. I only heard one thing from them and that was the chunin exams.
Something is going to happen, Naruto. I don't know what, but I know it will happen at the chunin exams coming up, and it will be between our villages. Keep an eye out and be careful!
See you soon,
Gaara
"Hey Kurama?" Naruto decided the best thing to do would be to ask Kurama what he thought would happen, since he's been around so long.
"What is it, Naruto?" Kurama's voice sounded annoyed but Naruto could tell that he wasn't.
"What do you think will happen at the chunin exams? Or when it will happen?"
"That's hard to say. It will most definitely be a fight, but when it will happen is hard to say."
"Yeah...I guess that's true. The exams take place over a long time, so it could happen at any moment, especially when we let our guard down."
"Watch ou–" Kurama tried to warn Naruto but was cut off as Naruto ran into a boy in front of him.
"OW!" Both boys yelled out as they clutched their now aching heads.
"Oh man, I'm so sor–" Naruto stopped midway as he looked up to see a face he hadn't seen in years. "Gaara?!"
"Naruto!" The red-headed ninja jumped up and hugged Naruto as a smile spread across his face. "I was going to come and find you! How have you been?"
"I've been good! Just been busy training, ya know! I'm so happy you're here now!" Naruto had a smile on his face as he continued to catch up with Gaara while they made their way to where Naruto was meeting up with his team.
As the two of them rounded the corner they could see Sasuke and Sakura standing outside of the testing building with two others that Naruto recognized as Temari and Konkuro. All four started to wave as Naruto and Gaara walked up, looks of confusion passing between them as they tried to figure out how they knew each other.
Naruto noticed the confused looks and decided it was best to introduce everyone. "Oh, Sasuke, Sakura, this is Gaara from the Sand Village and his brother and sister Konkuro and Temari. I became friends with them a long time ago and have kept in contact. They are here for the exams too. Konkuro, Temari, Gaara, these are my teammates Sasuke and Sakura."
They all began introducing themselves as they entered the testing building, all of them not even paying attention to the chaos that was starting around a fake testing door. By the time they all finally made it to the right door, they walked in to see many faces staring at them in distrust.
"Tch. What're you all staring at, losers." Sasuke was the first one to speak up as the group all made their way to empty desks.
"Oh Sasuke, you're so cool!" Sakura was squealing as she followed closely to Sasuke, gripping his arm whenever she could. "I just know you're going to pass the exam!"
