Minato froze as he heard those three words come out of Naruto's mouth, his mind had gone blank and he couldn't think of anything. Words kept playing over and over in his head like a broken record; conversations he had with Kushina. He was still frozen when he suddenly noticed Naruto turn his back to him and start to walk away, stopping only to turn his head slightly and whisper even more heart wrenching words.

"Stop trying to be my dad if all you're going to do is build up my hopes only to tear them down in the end. I'm done with the disappointment." Naruto ran off before anyone could say anything, not even stopping to see if anyone was following him. He was determined to get away for a while.

Minato could only watch as his son disappeared, running farther and farther away. There was nothing he could say and he knew it.

"You know, Lord Fourth Hokage... What Naruto said is not entirely wrong." Gaara suddenly spoke up as he walked towards Minato, his face showing no emotion as he got closer. "Yes, we were attacked, as well as kidnapped when we were young, scaring both you and my father, but we survived then, and we are even stronger now."

Minato looked up at the sky, not fully trusting his own emotions as he spoke. "I know that. I know how strong you both are. It's just..."

"You are a genius, Lord Fourth, all the different villages know that. And in my opinion, you are perhaps one of the strongest Kage's ever seen as well. But you ignored Naruto's feelings in order to satisfy the demands of the village council and its elders, am I right? That isn't being a father, it's being a master to a pet, treating it as though it doesn't have a will of its own."

Again, Minato felt pain in his heart as he listened to Gaara speak. He had no retort, because he knew that the boy was right, and that's what hurt the most. When he looked at Rasa standing behind Gaara, he could see the same pain in his eyes as well.

"Naruto and I have been in basically the same situation since we were born. I know what he is feeling better than anyone else ever could, other than the remaining seven Jinchuriki of course."

When they heard what Gaara said, it was as if both Rasa and Minato had been burned, both turning to Gaara with frightened and stunned faces. "How do you know that?!" They both ended up speaking at the same time, making Gaara even more confused.

"You thought we wouldn't know? Both of us have known about the tailed-beasts for a long time. Basically since we were kidnapped. That's how Naruto survived. We also know how that is the real reason we were forbidden from leaving our respective villages. Not because we were the sons of the Kazekage and the Hokage, but because we were precious Jinchuriki that the villages didn't want to lose. So yeah, we have both been angry for a long time."

"That's... We can't... Even if we wanted to, we can't just openly disregard what the councils want. We had to listen for the time being, and then get you two to become shinobi so you could go on missions. That was the best and most plausible way." Minato started to defend his decision. He couldn't afford to regret it.

"Perhaps it was at the time." Gaara nodded his head as a way to show he understood, but as he looked up, his eyes shone with resentment. "But just because it made sense, doesn't give either of you the right to ignore us, push us away, or treat us as fragile. You both knew of this attack, but you withheld all information from us even though it seems others knew of it. We collected information on our own, thinking we had to do something. Now we learn that we shouldn't have had to do it alone. It's disappointing to think that our own fathers do not believe in us. That is what hurts the most. Give Naruto some time and space for now. That is all you can do."

Once Gaara had finished talking he left both Minato and his dad to themselves as he ran off in the same direction as Naruto. He wanted to make sure that his friend was okay.
