"Alright, your team will be assigned a D-rank mission this time. You will be helping people in the vill–" Minato was cut off by a very upset Naruto before he could finish speaking.

"NO! No way! Stop giving us stupid missions! We can handle something harder!" Naruto began to speak up stubbornly. He was not going to stay stuck in the village any longer, even if he had to act like an idiot to get his way. He was determined to get out and he knew his team could handle it.

"Naruto, be quiet and do what you're told for once."

"Naruto, shut up you dummy!

"I agree with Naruto this time, Lord Hokage."

Kakashi, Sakura, and Sasuke all spoke up at the same time as soon as Naruto finished talking. Naruto was even surprised that Sasuke actually agreed with him.

After pondering over it for some time and letting out a loud sigh, Minato finally gave a dejected response. "Fine, you can take this C-rank mission. It's just escorting a carpenter back to the Land of Waves so it should be pretty easy, and you'll have Kakashi with you."

Naruto's eyes lit up after he heard the news. "Yes!" He couldn't help but shout for joy. He even noticed that Sasuke was happy about it. It wasn't long after they got their mission that an old man stepped through the doorway. He introduced himself as Tazuna and they were told that they would be leaving early the next morning to start their journey.

In the morning when they had all gathered, Naruto, again, wasn't surprised when Kakashi hadn't shown up yet. Tazuna started to complain about how stupid it was when Kakashi finally showed up, this time making some excuse about helping some elderly woman get home with groceries. He's never going to change is he... Naruto just had to sigh to himself as they walked to the entrance of the village.

Just as they were leaving, Naruto could hear whispers coming from villagers that were around them. "I can't believe they're letting him out now..."

"Is Lord Hokage okay with this? I can't believe he approved of this..."

"I hope no one gets in trouble if something happens to that boy again. I mean, he has never been that strong."

Naruto had to tune out the rest as he walked past, he didn't want to start his mission in a sad way. He wanted to enjoy this time away.

Everyone was enjoying the walk and just having a good time, so the morning passed quickly. It was afternoon before they knew it. Naruto was enjoying the view when he noticed a puddle of water. He could tell that Kakashi noticed it as well. I have a bad feeling about that... Naruto was pulled from his thoughts as two whips made from knives shot from the puddle, wrapping themselves around Kakashi before tightening, cutting him to pieces.

"What?!" Sakura screamed at what she had just witnessed, and not knowing what to do she just stood frozen in place.

"Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto called out for Kakashi, but before he could worry too much, one of the two enemies appeared behind him.

"Now it's your turn."

Just as he was about to do something, his mind flashed back to that night seven years ago.

The man standing above him pulled a knife from his pack, he tried to run but that man pulled him back by his collar and threw him into the wall. He cried out in pain from the impact, but the man didn't even blink as he stepped closer to him.

"I was hoping you two brats would sit still and do as you were told. Guess I'm going to have to teach you to behave."

He felt more than saw the impact of the knife digging into his skin, slicing over his arms multiple times. No matter how much he cried out, and begged, the man never stopped. The only thing he could see was the blade flying through the air in front of his eyes...
