Chevie rolled his eyes every time people joked he'd make a good detective or journalist. It was a known fact he was nosy and knew everything about everyone, but the reasons were different. Information usually came to him; he rarely ever chased it relentlessly himself. Besides, he viewed both occupations as jobs for stuck-up people, which was definitely not his vibe.
After all, everything he ever wanted was to be left in peace.
"Alejandro not coming today, either?" Hayley asked, checking herself out in her phone's camera as she sometimes does before or after going out. She loved looking perfect according to her own perception of herself and would often freak out if something about her look wasn't ideal just like she imagined it. "It's been ages since we've last seen him. I miss the big guy."
"Yup, still out of town." Mara responded, tapping her fingers on the steering wheel as they sat in the motionless car, waiting.
"You mean... Salamanca?" Adam asked, twitching in his seat as he was trying to put a seatbelt on. Hayley replied with a simple 'mhm' as she stuffed her phone into her small bag. "Sheesh, I didn't know he hung out with you."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Mara raised her eyebrow, glancing back at Adam who swallowed his spit nervously.
"No! I mean that he's more of a... serious guy, and you're very... out there, so I thought-" he stuttered a bit, but was then interrupted by both Chevie and Cher opening the doors to the passenger seat and the back seat respectively.
"Thank Christ, I was gonna take the passenger seat if you had me waitin' even a single minute longer," Hayley shook her head. Chevie simply shot her a nod and turned turned around towards Adam, who was shifting in his seat as Cheryl scrambled into the spot next to him.
"Hi," Chevie greeted him shyly.
"Uh, hi," Adam replied, grinning. Cher threw both of them a puzzled look.
"Can you two just, like, fuck already, so we can be over with this?" she asked bluntly, putting her seatbelt on. Chevie simply chuckled.
"What makes you think we haven't?" he replied with a question, a sly smile entering his face, causing Adam to snort quietly.
"You- you know what?" she sunk in her seat, propping her head up on her arm resting on the car door. "Forget it. I will never understand you gays."
"Alright, kids, time to go." Mara interrupted, starting the engine of her car as Chevie erupted with laughter.

The night was cold and enveloped in darkness, even though it was around 7PM. October was loudly signalling that the end of the year is coming as the days were getting shorter and shorter and the sky was covering itself with a pure black blanket of shimmering stars. Even the sun couldn't stand the coming cold.
The friends already got out of the car and were nearing Leah's place as Cheryl stopped dead in her tracks, looking at her phone in pure horror.
"Chevie, can I, like, take you to the side here for a second?" she asked, trying to force a smile so that Adam wouldn't get too suspicious. If not for him, she would've yelled everything out, but she wanted to avoid confusion for the poor guy. Drake came over to her, shooting a quick 'what's up' as Cher dragged him away from the group. "You won't believe who's at the party. Like, seriously. Jamal, Leah's brother just texted me and..."
"And? Cheryl, get it out already," he said, waiting anxiously.
"Sev. It's Sev. Sebastian is there," Cher answered, closing her eyes as she sighed. "I seriously didn't know until, like, just now. He's with his girlfriend and she probably brought him and- oh god, Leah, is she stupid? She knows you hate each other's guts."
