Here we go. I want to give all of you a quick update on what is happening in my life, which does relate to fanfiction of course. Not just giving you random info for no reason, kek.

Anyway, as you may or may not be aware I am the MD of a magazine publishing company, but also the Editor and writer. It is a team of 2 writers, with some freelancers. (rest is sales/studio/accounts) Now unfortunately my partner has now been headhunted from me to work for the BBC... for the same money, but now in London where everything costs three times as much. Wtf. But he is obsessed (like OCD obsessed) with the BBC, so they could have offered him peanuts and he would have gone.

This is bad for me, and for my fanfiction. Because until I can hire and train up a new journalist, I have to write EVERYTHING on my own. Which for your info basically means 4 mags of 50 pages average each, and a fifth of 100 average, in a four week month. As well as handling recruitment, interviews, CV's, general running of the company and training a new person when I get them.

This doesn't leave me much free time, and I'll possibly be working til 7 or 8 every night for a few months. I will do my best to keep writing fanfiction, and God knows this won't stop me at all. But it is causing some distress and writer's fatigue. You think writer's block was tough, try being so tired of typing that your hands seize up and cannot hit the keys properly...

What I'm basically saying is – I hope to keep the updates coming somewhat regularly, and I hope to keep the quality up to the standards I expect of myself – and you hope for. I really will try. But I cannot promise it, so please forgive me if something slips.

Oh, and we have just had a printer error, where pages 60-80 appear in the middle of the mag, and then appear again at the end. Basically fucking up the entire magazine for the month, and no doubt costing us loads with clients. FFS!

Onwards with the story.

Note: I'm not a major fan of this chapter - too rushed - but with deadlines coming up for magazines, if I don't get it out now, it could be weeks until I can re-do both it and One Good Turn...

Chapter 9 – Facing the music

///

"But tomorrow's Saturday!" Ruby protested as Yang began to pull on her combat boots. Damn, but it felt good getting out of that stuffy uniform, even if school wasn't officially over for the week yet. Their final class on a Friday was combat with Miss Goodwitch, so they all had an hour-long free period before it to allow them to prepare. Yang liked to use her time to lounge. It was an art form she had perfected over many years. Blake liked to use it to read... unfortunately her sister and Weiss liked to use it to argue.

Every. Damn. Time.

"Tomorrow is also the day that delegates from the other kingdoms arrive for the Vytal festival." The heiress informed them for what must have been the tenth time this day. "It's a perfect opportunity to meet people who might be taking part in the competition, as well as make contacts with powerful individuals."

"Could you have made that sound any more dull Ice-Queen?" Yang groaned from her bed. Honestly a city-wide festival was supposed to be a fun affair, how was she able to make it sound so boring?

"Dull or not, it's an opportunity that does not come around often! We cannot afford to miss it." Hands on hips, the heiress stalked about the room as she spoke. She was already prepared for combat class, though both her and Ruby apparently needed to collect some dust from their lockers sometime within the next thirty minutes.
