Chapter 14

Heya everyone! Another chapter of Professor Arc for the reading, readage? Let's go with readjoyment. I hope.

I was glad to see a lot of people approved of Velvet's little showing last chapter, it's a shame she isn't in this one – but rest assured that issue is not solved. The whole RVNN arc is just about beginning in fact! xD Or rather by the end of this chapter you'll see the beginning. #Foreshadowing

I do want to quickly address one thing that concerned people, i.e. Jaune's strength. I'll make it short because I don't want to spoiler anything. Basically Jaune in the real show managed to beat a single Ursa, although he would have died doing it if it weren't for Pyrrha. In this he fought five Ursa, and was doing perfectly fine until they hemmed him in. So yeah he is stronger here, trust me. I know in the show he managed to behead it with a single strike, but keep in mind that was with a run-up, a charge attack. He struck it once last chapter when he was already knocked to the floor – that doesn't have the same swing lol.

Also last chapter was actually his FIRST Grimm he ever faced. As he missed initiation, and in fact his "only" other fight was vs Cardin. Of course he trains with Neo, but can you imagine trying to figure out how strong you are when the person you're training with is so far ahead of your level?

What I'm trying to say is – we haven't seen how strong Professor Jaune Arc is at the moment, he beat Cardin (and as much as it was a gimmick – it was still a crushing win) – so he's clearly stronger than canon Jaune. So he can't beat five Ursa alone, but he hasn't had a chance to show what he can do 1v1 a Grimm. Jaune isn't aware of his own strength either, all he sees is himself losing to Neo and thinks "Man I'm weak." - but he hasn't actually seen how Neo is compared to others her age.

Also there's a hint here – remember how long Yang lasted in a fight against Neo? She was trounced – and yet it's Neo who is training Jaune. So trust me, he isn't and won't be underpowered. But I won't spoiler anything, you'll need to wait and see. I'm just answering those who complained that I made him underpowered.

Chapter 14 – Unhappy Hour

"So... on a scale of one to ten, how dangerous is this person we're seeing?" Jaune asked nervously, as he fidgeted with his armour. Stood across from him was Neo, a sarcastic smirk in place though even to him it looked a little more brittle than usual. "That bad?"

The small girl nodded, not meeting his eyes.

Well shit... there were plenty of things in life that scared Jaune Arc. His sisters, his father, his mother, Glynda, most of the students, Grimm, the idea of being found out – people who put tomato ketchup on eggs. There were enough things to fill a small book. But right near the top of all things was almost certainly Neo.

Because honestly if how she acted around him was classified as "friendly" then he dreaded to imagine what "hostile" might translate to. Also he'd had a first row seat to that little show she'd put on with the Ursa, and while that had been to save his life – something he was obviously quite thankful for. It still painted a scary picture of just how strong she was.

And just how far he had to go – Hell, he could only last at most a minute with her, and that when she wasn't using her weapon.

Still, back to the issue at hand – he was going to be meeting with some kind of crime boss as a favour to Roman, and would need to agree to whatever plan they had. Something about smuggling people into Beacon if he remembered... What could they want from that though? Initially he suspected the worst; that they were trying to kill someone. But dramatic panic aside, if they wanted to do that then why not just have Neo teleport in and do it?
