I catch myself going off on tangents several times in my classes the next day.
When I woke up, I couldn't look at Natsumi without blushing and it didn't take her long to realize that but she didn't say anything about it, only chuckling briefly before kissing me on the cheek and wishing me a good day.
" I don't think I learned anything today" I complain to Jayla at the end of the day.
" Of course not" She scoffs, flipping down her sunglasses to beat the glare of the late afternoon sun, "You've been super distracted, are you actually okay?" Her brows furrow in concern.
"Fine, just tired" I waved off flippantly.
"Okay well get some rest, yeah?" I nod and she hugs me to her side.
" I gotta go, I'm meeting with your wedding planner to see if we can find some sort of middle ground between these ugly dresses"
Jayla always knows how to make me laugh.
" Her name is Amelia" I remind.
" Oh I know, calling her wedding planner annoys her so I keep using it. She gets so worked up over it, it's cute" She shrugs.
" Do you like her or something?"
"Maybe" She shrugs, smiling brightly.
" Good for you"
" Later"
" Please don't spend the entire time flirting, actually pick a dress"
" No promises" She smirks, waving goodbye before walking off to her own car.
I take my time going home, admiring the scenery if you will but really I was trying to stall.
Natsumi would be home and I really didn't know how to talk to her after last night. Do we pretend like it never happened? Do we talk about it? I think I would die in either scenario.
Before heading inside, I hang the key back on the spot on the wall in the garage.
"Have you moved at all?" I'm surprised to see her almost in the same position as I had left her.
"Yeah for lunch and bathroom breaks" Natsumi looks up at me, brows scrunched together in confusion.
Cute
"C'mon, up" I stretch my arms out to pull her from the couch.
"Okay"
She doesn't resist, lips quirking upwards at the corners in amusement.
" What now?"
"I didn't think that far ahead" I mumble and she breaks out into a smile.
"How were your classes?" She grabs my hand and we navigate through the house out to the balcony.
"They were okay"
"Hmm," She muses, lighting up a cigarette and inhaling deeply.
"That's a bad habit to have"
"I know"
I'm sick for thinking the way she exhales the smoke is attractive.
It's quiet for some time as Natsumi observes me and it feels like we're back in our bed, I have to look somewhere else other than her to keep my cool.
"You seem a little uncomfortable around me"
"Not uncomfortable" I deny immediately because that's not what I feel.
" Then what, hmm?" She questions, throwing a look at me over her shoulder before turning back to the view of the community we live in. I walk up to her side trying to find a way to tell her I'd been thinking about last night all day.
