      Chapter 1:

The woman entered from the dark corner of the alley. The sterling silence enveloped everyone who stopped to stare at the sheer of this human being. The second she had stepped out everything was suppressed and muttled; the power emanating from the fight that was going on before was swallowed into her glowing figure. And even though the glow was orbed around her, nothing within its reach was brightened.

In fact shock was the only thing that kept Eve rooted to the ground, although, the thought of passing out was right around the corner. Other than the random occurrence, there was another peculiar detail about the woman. She was an older replica of herself, well except for her eyes. The burgundy hair, the up-turned nose, even the freckles that dotted her face was almost parallel to hers. The only thing that Eve did not receive was the violet eyes.

She never noticed it, but people always told her they would light up in the dark; almost like a cat’s would. But that doesn’t matter at the moment, what matters is why this woman decided to pop up the moment she was about to be finished  off by the abysmal man standing a mere ten feet away from her.

      “Who are you?”

“I think you already know the answer to that,” She said softly, walking out of the shadows and facing Eve. Her light brown eyes, filled with warmth, gave Eve a sense of security, but somehow she still didn’t trust her.

“I’ve been keeping an eye you ever since you were a baby. Why do you think you’re alive?”

Eve took a couple steps back. Even if what the woman said was true, she didn’t want the woman anywhere near her. All that she was saying-- It just didn’t make any sense.

“Don’t take one more step closer!” Eve said drawing out her knife. The woman stopped in her tracks and stared down at the knife. Eve couldn’t tell what that expression was; usually people would act in fear, backing away at the sight of it. But she just stared at it like, like she was bored, as though it were a piece of paper being handed to her. After a few moments, the woman finally looked up. Was she hallucinating? Or did she actually see a glint of pride in her eyes.

The woman heaved out a great sigh, “Eve, please. There are things I have to tell you, things that you still don’t know.”

Eve looked at her with suspicious eyes. Still keeping her guard up, she slowly lowered the knife and tucked it into her belt.

“All those wasted years… if it wasn’t for Luke--”

“Yes, I know,” Said the woman, cutting her off.

“But right now there are things that need to be explained, so the way I see it you have two options. Come with me and find out the truth, or stay on the streets. It’s your choice.” Eve opened her mouth to respond, but was suddenly interrupted a loud cough.

“Well this is touching and all, but this lovely reunion should be right about over,” the man remarked mockingly.

Both Eve and the woman whipped around to face him. It was a long time since he last tried to kill her, almost five years. Except now, he looked a bit older. Although his outfit, creepily, didn’t change, it appeared as if it had become dirtier with time; his white t-shirt was stained more than ever, but surprisingly his jeans still seemed to be intact, faded, but still intact. Not to mention, those sunglasses, he never takes off, and she felt she wanted him to keep it that way.

“Almost forgot about me didn’t you? Well that shouldn’t be a surprise, since you almost always did when we were married Triss,” he smirked. Eve’s muscles clenched, she couldn’t even wrap this information around her head. It couldn’t be true—absolutely not!

Chuckling darkly, “Oh Alastor, I didn’t forget about you; I’ve been keeping my guard up ever since my back was turned.” With that she took an object Eve had not seen and threw it against the wall behind him, barely missing his head. Eve looked closely and saw a sharpened piece of silver lodged deeply into the brick wall.

“I’m not a fool you know, I know all your tricks, especially that one.” Triss said with an eerie calmness. As seconds passed the air suddenly became colder and the wind began to rotate. It tousled her hair, making it seem like it had a mind of its own. Her eyes turned coal black, it spread like fresh ink across a table; the whites of her eyes disappearing once the black had lapped over. The glow that had once been there, wasn’t the same as she felt before.  This one felt raw with energy, it made even the strongest of people seem like children; weak and afraid.

      Alastor stumbled backward.

“Now I know this is a trick you haven’t seen,” at that exact moment, Triss’ power exploded from her body in an electrical current, sending a shock wave that lifted him off his feet and slammed him into the wall behind.

“What’s going on?!” Eve roared over the wind. Never before had she seen this much power, of course sometimes this happened with her if Luke tested her patience a bit too much, but it was never this intense. At most, or so he said, her iris’ would turn black, never the whole eye disappearing.

“Stay back! Leave this to me,” Triss yelled back at her. A beautiful blade that had the luminosity of pearls erupted out of Triss’s hand. Eve could barely believe her eyes! Eve barely saw what happened; it was too fast, too much speed for the naked eye to handle. Without even one breath, Triss went over to Alastor and struck the blade into the center of his chest. If that was her she would be dead, and even if she wasn’t after a blow like that, surely there would have been lots of insufferable pain involved. But instead Alastor looked at her grinning.

“Well times certainly have changed Triss, I’ll make note of this.” And with that he wisped away into a cloud of black smoke.

Triss stood there for a moment glaring at the spot he had once been in. As though she had never done it, she appeared the same as before.

“How did he do that?” Eve asked, he shouldn’t had been able to move!

“Apparently, he’s found out how to make an illusion of himself.  He’s gotten stronger,” Triss replied concerned.

“I know that’s a bad thing, but then I could just get stronger too.”

“You don’t understand.” Triss said turning to Eve. “This means that the prophecy has begun…”
