-Can I sit here? -Adam asks and I don't know how to answer, I don't really like people. That's a lie, I don't like sharing a table with people.
-Of course. -I said smiling with all the teeth I have on my face.
Adam continued to sit next to me in every class, and he was actually good company. We were heading to history class and I turn to Adam:
-They warned you that there was a test right?
-What? Test?!
Nobody had told him anything. As usual. I guess this class doesn't like new people very much.
-It'll be fine, if you need anything let me know. -I told him with a wink.
Wow, I was socializing, I was being nice.

The test went well, and I didn't even have to give him the answers.
It seemed that he was minimally up to date with the subject matter.
We headed to our next class, and as I was expecting he once again sat down next to me.
Although he was handsome he didn't seem to me to be succeeding in making friends. It seems to me more like he is having as much trouble as I am.
-Adam, won't you sit next to me? -Cassy, the most popular girl in the class asked.
-No. -Everyone laughed as he sat down next to me. -I didn't mean to offend you, but I'd rather sit next to Eva if you don't mind.
I could see Cassy's eyes culminating with envy and that was funny to see.
I never had anything against her, nor anything in favor of her.
The first week of school she forbade all the boys and girls in our class to talk to me. Like I was some kind of freak that nobody could talk to. That didn't influence me at all. I understand Cassy. Before everything happened I was also the popular girl in my class , but I also understood that being popular doesn't benefit you. You will benefit more if no one notices you.
It was Portuguese class and we had to make a group to present on a book they wanted to read and we wanted to present as a group. Adam and I exchanged glances and quickly raised our hands.
-I see we already have a group formed. Eva and Adam, very well, which book are you going to present? -The teacher asked.
-Pride and Prejudice. -We said at the same time. Some boys rolled their eyes, also like the girls, I didn't know if it was all hate, I really didn't understand.I think they don't like me because they don't like me and there's no other explanation for it.It seems like me and Adam would be the strangers forever. But I didn't care either, and I don't think Adam cared either. After a massacring lesson of stares, I finally manage to get out of class.
-Are you taking the bus? -I ask him.
-No, the headmaster wanted to talk to me and my mum. So I'll have lunch here at school and then go home. Tomorrow I'll walk with you, don't worry. -He winked at me and I gave him a smile.
I hadn't smiled in a long time.
-Do you date that guy? -A boy I hadn't yet figured out the name of in my class asked.
-Sure, because I didn't even meet him yesterday or anything. -I answered him sarcastically, and he continued to stand there waiting for an answer.
-Boy, let's see something. Just because we both like reading and are freaks like you say doesn't mean we have to be something.
-We don't say you're freaks... -
-That's exactly what we say, Ricky. -Cassy said passing
.-Okay I think that's the first time I've ever agreed with her -I confessed.
-Hey Eva! -The boy shouted
.-Yeah?
-Forget it.
-Okay.
