It was a day like any other, the people in the village were carrying on with their normal day-to-day activities until they heard rustling from the giant tree.

"THE TREE IS FALLING, EVERYONE, EVACUATE THE VILLAGE IMMEDIATELY!" The woman shouted this to all the other people. As soon as they all realized that the tree was in fact falling, they all ran in the direction of their homes in a rush to escape the falling tree. Everyone was packing their things like clothing, food, plates, utensils, blankets, and pillows.

Everyone had left the village, except for one old man who lived far enough from the tree so his house wouldn't be crushed under the tree when it fell.

"I should probably send a letter to Syrune. She'll probably be upset when she finds out, but it's better than her never finding out. I know she loves the tree and would harm anyone who harms the tree." He picked up his cat, Thane, and walked over to his desk. He picked up his feather, dipped it in ink, and started writing the letter.

When he finished the letter, he waited for the ink to dry. When the ink dried, he rolled it up and grabbed a purple ribbon. He tied the ribbon, so the parchment would stay rolled and tied it to his crow, Apollo and told him to fly to the house on the mountain.

The family in the small house was asleep, and probably wouldn't have noticed the tree that fell. Speaking of the tree, it had fallen on the entire village, crushing houses, buildings, and even most of the lake they used for drinking. The only part it didn't cover was the area of the lake near the man's house.

When the old lady awoke from her slumber to the sound of a crow, she realized the noise was coming from her window. She looked out the window to see the crow with the letter attached to it. She opened up the window and let the small bird in, she took the letter off the crow and closed the window. She let the bird rest on her bed as she walked over to her desk. She sat down on her chair and opened the letter.

'Dear Syrune,
You probably didn't notice that the tree had fallen on the village. Knowing you, you were probably sleeping when my crow came, and when the tree fell. When the tree fell on the village, it crushed everything except for my house and the small area of the lake next to it. Send your grandchildren down here to check it out, and don't forget to give them the necklace. You know which one I'm talking about. Send me a letter as soon as they start heading over here.

Sincerely your oldest friend, Alden.'

When she finished reading the letter, she ran to go wake them up. She opened the door and started shouting at them to wake up.

"Gran, this is supposed to be our free day. We'll finish the shed tomorrow." A teen girl with long wavy hair mumbled sleepily. She turned to face the other direction, and tried to go back to sleep.

"Sophia, and Ifera Urentu, you two will wake up right now, go outside and take a look at our tree!" She ripped Sophia and Ifera's blankets off.

"What do you mean, look at the tree? It's just a tree, there's no need for you to come in here and wake us up." Ifera replied. He sat up, knowing that he wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. Meanwhile, Sophia was still lying down trying to go back to sleep.

"What I mean, is that the tree fell and crushed the village. I wouldn't have even known that it had fallen if it weren't for my friend who sent a letter about it. His name is Alden, he lives close to the village and keeps me updated about what's happening down there." She dragged the sleepy girl out of bed and left her on the wooden floor. Somehow, she was still asleep.

"The tree fell?! Why didn't you say that sooner?!" He got up and ran out of the house to see the tree, leaving his grandma to drag his sister out of the house.

When she finally got her outside, she sprayed her with the hose, dousing her in cold water.

"WHAT THE HELL, GRAN?!" She yelled, now fully awake. Syrune then pointed at the tree that had fallen in the distance. Ifera was waiting for Sophia by the door, he also looked in the direction Syrune was pointing at.

When they both saw it their eyes widened, and their jaws dropped in shock. Sophia had to look away and look at it again to see if she was just seeing things.

"I told you about the letter my old friend sent me about the tree, right?"They nodded. "Well in the letter he also asked me to send you guys down there to check it out"

"Let's head over there tomorrow at sunrise so we have time to pack stuff for our journey over there." Sophia replied, giving up on trying to help the old lady get a better view. The three people turned around to face the house and walked back into the house to pack the stuff they needed for the next day.

They packed their stuff inside a basket, the items they needed were sorted into three layers. The bottom held their food which consisted of bread, fresh fruit from their garden, some uncooked meat, and utensils. The middle held clothes, pillows, blankets, and sleeping bags. The top held flashlights, matches, a glass jar, and whetstones for their swords. As they were getting ready to leave Granny Syrune gave them a piece of jewelry.

"Keep these on you at all times." stated Granny Syrune "If you take them off, or if they get broken, put them in your pocket. If you don't, they cannot help you on your journey." she explained. Sophia and Ifera hugged her and walked over to the doorway.

"Alright, we'll be back as soon as we figure out what happened." She then turned to face her brother "Race you down the hill!" Sophia shouted as she started running down the hill.

"THAT'S NOT FAIR, YOU GOT A HEAD START!" Ifera yelled to his sister, and started running down the hill into the sunset after her. With that the twin started on their journey to the tree.
