When the twins got to the bottom, the sun was no longer in the sky. The Zimnes, a large bird-like creature who instead of only feathers had feathers, fur, and hair that was the color of the beautiful night sky. Their legs and talons looked as if they were meant to be silver and shiny, but the shine was no longer there. Their eyes looked like they were golden, but like the legs, they no longer had the beautiful shine. They were out and singing their songs of despair.
The twins knew that if they heard the song they would want to turn around and give up on their journey, so they put the ear plugs they made earlier into their ears and walked past them like they weren't there. When they got away from the Zimmers, they took the plugs out of their ears and placed them back into their basket. They kept walking for 10 minutes when Sophia noticed that the path they were following split into two directions.
The one on the left led to a forest that looked like it had been split in half. The trees on the left were dead, while the trees on the right were thriving. The trees that were thriving had beautiful golden leafs, and growing on the trees were fruits. These fruits that grew from the trees looked like a purple and gold upside-down cat head.
The path on the right led to a large lake that was surrounded by plants that were salmon and a blueish-gray. The water was a dark brownish blue; it was so dark you couldn't even see what was living in it.
"Which one do you think is correct?" Sophia asked.
"I think-" a muffled voice interrupted him before he could finish his thought.
"The one on the left has trees, which means it could have people living nearby." The voice responded. Ifera looked around to find the source. "Why are you looking around? I'm here tucked under your shirt. Also, you should really put on some deodorant; it smells like dog farts and rotten eggs in here." The voice spoke as if it was an obvious fact. Ifera was trying to figure out what the voice meant by 'tucked under your shirt', when Sophia realized something. She then pulled the necklace out from under his shirt.
"Thanks lady, at least one of you has common sense." As it spoke the gem glowed and the color changed. She couldn't figure out how she didn't see the glowing and changing colors under his shirt. "Don't you guys have questions? Like 'Why is this necklace talking?', 'How did I forget to put on deodorant this morning?', or 'What's the necklace's name?'"
"Why didn't you let me know you were under there earlier?" Ifera questioned, while wondering if the necklace could hear their conversations or thoughts, or if it could hear both."I was sleeping, also, yes, I can hear the thoughts of the person who's carrying me around and I can hear you guys' conversations." The gem glowed turquoise and pale aqua.
"Also, what is your name? A beautiful piece of jewelry shouldn't go unnamed." She said as she put the gem in her hand.
