The wind flew freely through my fur as I ran in my wolf form. My name is Jessica McKnight. I am part of the Eastern Pack in Washington. My father, Seth McKnight is one of the most feared leaders in the area. His rain is honor and golden plus everyone enjoys him.
I leapt into the air, over a log, glancing down between my white paws and landing swiftly. We call ourselves shifters since werewolf is a major stereo type consider we resemble actually wolves. Our hair color is the same as our fur as our eyes are too. My coat was pure white like my natural hair color even though I died it a rich brown and deep blue eyes like my natural ones.
I leapt into the air one more time only to be knocked to the ground. I rolled on my side before standing up and looking around, ready for a fight. Before me stood a black wolf with grey eyes. he was crouched and growling at me, ready for a fight.
"Who are you and why are you on western territory you easterner?" He growled through something we called a mind link. Any shifter could connect this way.
I stumbled to my feet, readying myself. I knew I was close to the boarder I just didn't know I had crossed over it but as I looked over I realized I hadn't.
"You really shouldn't've done that." I growled. His ears flattened against his head as he snarled, his white teeth shinning back at me. I mirrored him, licking my top gums since he was much bigger than I was.
"What are you going to do about it runt?" He growled, walking forwards until he was over my head. I started to cowier below him until I could see under him. There was the grey line with two slanted strips symbolizing he was an Alpha.
"I'm Jessica McKnight." I say through the link. He grew quiet with something else but that was gone in a second.
"You're his daughter." The black alpha says before backing away. His glare was hard and so familiar to me.
"Get out of here." he growled but I remained frozen. I couldn't move a muscle as if I was a statue.
"Jessica." A new voice said through a link. We both turned, the black alpha standing in front of me with his ears pricked forwards as I looked over my back with my ears mimicking his. The voice was familiar and then it clicked. It was my brother Jacob. He burst into the clearing and lunged at the black alpha.
"Jacob stop. He's an alpha." I barked at my idiotic older brother.
"I know Jessica but he isn't alpha yet. Why are you so blind? Can't you see this is Cole Darkwood?" He yelled back as everything clicked, the puzzle in my head finding it's own solution. My brother and Cole rolled on the ground, fighting and snarling. Blood was starting to show on my brothers blonde coat when I realized I needed to step in. I may be two years younger than the two be still I could pack a punch. I leapt at the boys sinking my teeth into Cole's neck and dragging him down with me.
Cole spun around and glared at me as I glared back, my brother stumbling to his feet behind me before he lunged at Cole and I lunged back, sinking my teeth into his neck again. Cole finally got away, disappearing in the distance.
"Come on. No need to waste our time with him Jessica. Let's go home." my brother said when I went to take off after him and finish what was started but instead I turned and took off behind him, leaving Cole behind.
I got up the next morning and went to the shower, a million thoughts pounding in my head. Today was our first day here at a new school. Several Darkwood pack members went here as well as a few of our pack member but we were out numbered being on the opposite side of Darkwood territory.
The cool water washed over my body as I thought. I knew I would have a few people around but I didn't know who all would be there. I knew that a lot would be Darkwood pack members along with several other packs but the thought still put me a little on my toes.
There is nothing a McKnight pack member hates more than a Darkwood pack member just like there was nothing a Darkwood pack member hated more than a McKnight pack member. The feud between us has gone on for years but was almost over until the Darkwood Luna was killed by mistake by my father. He thought she was a rouge by the way she was acting but wasn't and took her life by accident.
"Come on Jessica or we will be late." my brother called. I sighed and stepped out of the shower before pulling on a white dress with matching sandals and rushing down stairs, pulling my unnatural brown hair in a loose yet pretty side braid.
"Bye mom. Bye dad." I called, giving each of them a kiss on the cheek before grabbing my bag and heading out the door. Jacob sat in his red Lamborghini, waiting for me. Being an alpha's child had it's perks. We were rich and had several house but my father also owned several companions.
"Remember what dad said. Stay with members of your own pack or humans but stay away from the Darkwoods of you can." My brother reminded me as we pulled into the school. I rolled my eyes and got out of the car just as Jasmine ran up to me, her long grey hair pulled back into a low braid at the base of her skull. My brother winked at her and her eyes twinkle seeing him but dismissed a thought and looped arms with me.
"I am so glad to see you." She chirped, as happily as ever. "We have every class together." She said, handing me my schedule. I rolled my eyes and smiled. I did like Jasmine, she was my best friend since we were babies but she can get to be to much.
"Good so what's first?" I asked her as she gripped my arm and started pulling us to the school. I started to protest but gave up on the thought as the bell sounded but then again I wouldn't win.
"Honors English 3 since we are Juniors." She said proudly, pulling us into a class room. I sat down beside a window as the most intoxicating scent hit me. It smelled so calming and peaceful and made me feel safe. It smelled of freedom and so much more. I looked out in the distance to see how it was when I saw the Darkwood pack members all emerging.
"Look what the cat dragged in." Jasmine grumbled, looking out over the coward of rowdy teenage shifters. I rolled my eyes and watched until I couldn't see anymore.
By lunch arrived I was exhausted. Jasmine had started an argument with basically ever Darkwood pack member she had seen and I was the one that had to break them apart. She sat down beside me at our table when the scent hit me again and I looked around, searching desperately for it. Soon it was growing closer and closer until I knew the owner who was known other than...
Cole Darkwood.
