Notes:
Hellooo everyone, I felt this was really needed after that article with Gwen and plus I miss upstead and I just wanted to write them because writing them always brings me happiness.
This fic will probably have multiple chapters because I have lots of ideas that I want to write but I have no clue when they will be out so this can just be a one shot for now, but it is part of my 'You're All That I Need' Series I'm in the making of for upstead and I initially started writing this as like a prequel for it.
Title is from Home by Edith Whiskers
but anyways here's my take on what I think it would be like when Jay comes home, hope you all enjoy <3
Oh, home, let me come home
Home is wherever I'm with you
Oh, home, let me come home
Home is wherever l'm with you
8 months was a long time, a long time to be apart, but with Hailey and Jay it honestly meant nothing, they were still as strong as ever, maybe even stronger, they had been put through the ringer countless times and made out to the other side intact, not completely unscathed but intact, nonetheless.
Now Hailey waited in the airport for Jay, paralleling the time he waited for when she was on her way back from New York three almost four years ago. But this time they were married, they were married . They had finally admitted their feelings to each other not long after she got back from New York, which to Hailey felt like a lifetime ago.
The Blonde stood at the gate Jay's plane would be landing at in about ten minutes. Yes, she was early, she wasn't sure if it was her insomnia or excitement that woke her up early, but she could put it down to a bit of both. She had tried to get ready slowly but failed, she just wanted to get to the airport and be with her husband. She had even stopped off for coffee and breakfast on the way and still wound up at the airport thirty minutes before Jay's plane was due to land.
Her left hand tapped against her thigh, her wedding band tapped against her thigh as she waited for him, leant up against the wall, waiting for any sign of people leaving the terminal.
She was finally about to see him in person, not over FaceTime, not through text, in person. Her heart was in her throat, she was so nervous, she didn't know why she was nervous, he was her husband, her best friend, it was going to be okay.
The next ten minutes were the longest ten minutes of Hailey's life, but she was immediately at attention when she saw people starting to filter out of the gate, some reuniting with people, others disappearing off into the airport.
She scanned the terminal exit as more people came out in a bigger crowd, but she would be able to spot him, she always could.
And there he was, bag slung across his back, hoodie in his hands, wearing jeans and a plain t-shirt.
He was home.
Jay was home.
Her husband was home.
Her home was home.
His greens met her blues, and he broke out into the biggest grin, his heart rate picked up and so did his pace. She walked towards him, and they met in the middle, both letting out nervous giggles at being in close proximity with each other again, it not actually registering just yet that they could actually reach out for each other and hold each other again.
