Hello readers! Thank you SO incredibly much for reading The Places We Go in its entirety and for reading the afterword! There's just a few things I would like to explain about this book, it's ending, what's next for Zellarid and Mirirejar, and what's next for all of my novels.
First off, I'm sure you are mad on how I ended the book. I tortured myself to find the perfect ending, and felt as though an ambiguous one would be best. Please leave a comment as to who you think won the battle on the bridge! You are free just to say the name of the Queen (as in just saying Anastasia or Arlie) but feel free to put your reasoning, I would love to hear what you all think!
Secondly, about a month ago I got a comment asking me about the title of the novel. While I did my best to answer back then, the book wasn't fully thought out yet and thus I couldn't give an in-depth answer. Well, I can do that now! The final sentence reads: "After all, what place wouldn't you go for friendship, for power, or for love?" The last part (for friendship, for power, for love) can also be found on the book's cover. The three parts refer to the three of the four main themes of this book. On the subject of friendship, Arlie and Soleil go to save Anastasia, then Arlie and Anastasia go to save Soleil. In the end, Soleil runs around Zellarid in hopes of finding Arlie and Anastasia before one kills the other. On the subject of "power", that is Luna's entire motive until she falls for Soleil. Arlie and Anastasia start their quest just trying to save Soleil, but end up taking over the sub-kingdoms. Arlie kills Ryaxleb to take over Reilweth, and Anastasia gives up starting a relationship with Beau a bit earlier so that she can be Queen of Faormen. Later on, they fight over staying in Zellarid with Beau/Xayah, which blows up into a battle to the death for total domination of the world. Finally, for love. Soleil gives up all but two of her chances to escape to Zellarid so that she can stay with Luna. Instead of killing Soleil in second chance she takes, Luna kisses her instead. Anastasia murders Ideus so that she can be with Beau, and both her and Arlie fight so they can make Beau/Xayah happy. I know all of those are quite obvious instances of these three themes, but I just wanted to spell them out anyways.
Now, I am so happy to announce that a sequel is coming! The sequel will include most of the characters from this book as well as a few new ones, and will follow what happened to Scheven after the war. Please consider reading my other novels House of Vayle and Down Back To Zero while you wait!
Finally, I just want to give a huge shoutout to everyone who reads the novel and this afterword! Also, thank you to all of my good friends who helped inspire the characters of this book. Love you all!
If you have any other questions about this book or a suggestion for it's sequel, please leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
Edit: I'm sure you're aware by now, but the sequel is out! The Things We Do can be found on my page. Please go and read it to find out who won the battle on the bridge, and how she shaped Iphica thirty after this brutal end to the war.
