I swear to God if this is another one of those snow globe locations, I will personally kill anyone responsible!
Having a stroll through the long, white and clean hallway decorated with beautiful paintings, I followed the scent of freshly baked goods coming from some of the rooms whose doors were situated one across another.
I could kill for a soft baked cookie right now.
Tracing my fingers onto the smooth walls while walking, I stumbled upon a big door with gold decorations etched into it.
Double door opened without me even touching the handle, revealing another white room with golden furniture and flowers on the table and cupboards. I felt a sudden coldness rush through my body as the door slammed behind me, making me instantly turn around, seeing the corridor has disappeared.
The room resembled those in royal palaces, with golden white chairs, a large dining table to match the chairs, on which were freshly baked biscuits still smoking from the heat. Next to the table was a large fireplace above which an oval mirror framed in gold hung. Catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror, another figure appeared behind me, making my adrenal gland pump. Turning around, I saw nothing, but returning my head towards the mirror again, the woman was there again. I slowly turned my head back, just to see nothing again.
"Hello, Niamh," the woman in the mirror spoke, having her lips cornered up while she twirled her one-piece golden necklace around her fingers. Her chocolate brown hair coiled into curls, falling around her shoulders.
"Who are you?"
"Don't you recognize me? I'm you." She wiggled her brows and smiled widely while lowering her head and looking back at me through her brows.
"Okay, what?"
"I am the version of you, you hated so much that you buried me deep down inside, so no one can see the true you."
"Fucking hell, if I'm in the jinn's dream imma be pissed."
"No honey, you're right where you're supposed to be. Here, alone with your consciousness which is eating you alive. Just remember your parents. It was all your fault. If you just didn't hold this part of you back, you could've saved them."
"You have no idea what you're talking about." I managed to croak out at the girl.
"No? Did you even grieve for them? You continued with your life like nothing happened. Did you even bury them, like you buried me?"
"I couldn't--"
"You didn't, did you? Shame on you."
"Shut up. You don't know what you're talking about." I said more sternly this time, wanting to stop her sneering.
"Oh, but I do."
"What do you want?"
"I want you to wake up and embrace the darkness inside of you. What are you doing with the Winchesters? You know you're better on your own, by yourself, with me picking on every nerve in your brain, whispering to you those sweet nothings you love so much, encouraging you to kill everything that gets in your way. Vampires, werewolves, ghouls, even angels, all those nasty little things. And you don't ever realize that you're killing one of yours. You're blind and stupid and nobody cares for you, except for me, as in you only care about yourself. Come with me. Let's become one again."
She reached her hand out to me and one part of me was telling me to go for it, there's nothing for me anywhere anymore. But the other part of me sensed something wasn't right. I don't have a dark side hidden inside me. I killed because I had to. I killed to save so many people from getting killed. I never killed anyone innocent.
Except my parents.
No!
That was not my fault.
She leaped towards me through the window, sending the glass into thousands of pieces which made me bump into the chair behind me. The reality was that I wasn't at fault for what my parents went through, I didn't know anything about Guardians. But could I have protected them? Definitely. But they deserved nothing less than creating their perfect life in heaven and I know they would have wanted me to forgive myself.
As the warmth filled my body, I closed my eyes and wished for this moment to be over, to bury that dark me back inside and leave it locked up. My eyes shot open as a guttural voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Hello, Niamh. You're early." A dark-skinned woman appeared at the door, her lips adorned with maroon colored gloss, holding a long spiky weapon in her hand which matched with her dark robes.
"Who the hell are you? Where am I?" I demanded the answers as she started to get closer to me, making me match her step backwards.
"You're somewhere between life and death."
"What?"
"I am Death. My job is to personally reap you when your time comes. But as I said, you're quite early." My eyes widened and my body started to sting with fear at her words.
"What does that mean?"
"This is not your time to die, dear. You have so many things to do," she said silvery and reached her free hand towards me, mirroring the same action as those of myself from the mirror.
"Like what?"
"That's for you to find out."
