Klaus spent the day with Hayley and Hope as his family searched for ways to rid themselves of the Hollow once and for all. Elijah was on his own mission of riding New Orleans of Greta's army of bigoted vampires. Much to Hayley's annoyance, this meant speaking with Antoinette.

Neither Klaus nor Hayley liked being on the sidelines of the action, but Hope had made it clear that she needed her parents. If they had been more aware of this, maybe they wouldn't be in this situation. Klaus was struggling to not blame himself for the mess his family was in, but he knew he played a role in making his daughter feel isolated.

"You really like these Twilight movies?" Klaus asked after suffering through an hour and a half of sparkly vampires. "It's not even close to accurate."

"It's more about the romance than the supernatural." Hope jokingly defended one of her favorite movies.

"Well, you are not allowed to date until you are one hundred." Klaus teased back.

"That's not fair." Hope said standing to get more snacks off the table. In true Klaus fashion, her father had filled the table with every movie snack known to man. "Mom, tell him I'm allowed to date."

"I'm not going to get in the middle of this." Her mom laughed, eating out of the popcorn bowl Hope had left behind.

It was the most normal day Hope had ever had. Lounging on the couch with both her parents, munching on popcorn and candy while they teased her about boys and her taste in movies.

"Just wait until you watch the next movie, it has a love triangle." Hope beamed at her dad who merely groaned and leaned back into the couch.

Hope went to grab a handful of Twizzlers off of the table when the room suddenly shifted out of focus. She grabbed the edge of the table for support as the floor appeared to move beneath her.

"Hope!" She heard both her parents call out as they flashed to her side. She felt her father's steady presence behind her as her mom placed both hands on her face to peer into her eyes.

"I'm okay." Hope tried to pry herself out of her parent's grasp. "Really, I just got lightheaded for a second."

She didn't want her parents to worry. That's all they seemed to be able to do is worry about her. She just wanted to continue enjoying their completely normal day. But she could tell by the looks on their faces that their peaceful day was over. Hope followed her parents' eyes, which seemed to be focused on her arm. When she looked down, she saw black veins traveling up and down her arm. Hope's eyes went wide at the sight.

"What's happening to me?" Her voice came out smaller than she wanted.

"I don't know," Her mom's voice pulled her focus away from the veins that were slowly disappearing. "But we'll figure it out."

She heard her dad behind her on the phone with Aunt Freya already. They were assembling the troops. Her Uncle Kol had been right, the family comes together during times of crisis.

Her mom brought her back to the couch to sit down, clasping her hands in her own.

"Honestly, how do you feel?" Hayley asked, rubbing Hope's hand. The dark veins in Hope's arm had scared her more than she'd admit to her daughter. They all knew what it was. The Hollow was too much for her to contain. They knew it was only a matter of time, but Hayley had hoped they would have come up with a solution before it became a problem.

"Freya is on her way back." Klaus came over, sitting on the coffee table in front of Hope. "Elijah is finishing up with Antoinette and will be home as soon as possible."

"Did he say how it went with his ex-fiance?" Hope asked, hoping to distract her parents. Hayley merely snorted at her daughter's attempt to change the subject.
