Headmistress McGonagall begins to speak. Her words never seem to end, spouting things I already know. She introduces the teachers, explains rules, but I ignore nearly everything, until she says it's time to eat. I should have paid attention but honestly, does she expect a bunch of eleven year old children to listen to a long, wordy speech?
A girl beside me taps my arm, holding her hand out for me to shake. "Yor Briar," she declared. "Second year. Nice to meet you."
"Y/n Asagiri." I say, shifting away from her ever so slightly. Her hair is stained a dark crimson, black at the roots, eyes a matching hue. Her Slytherin uniform is crisp and pressed as though she spent hours ironing it.
"I know who you are." She stifles a laugh.
"Yor, stop bugging the first year." Says a boy sitting next to her. He looks nearly identical to Yor, his hair still the natural black and tied in a bun. His uniform is a bit messier, expression calmer than Yor and relaxed. "Sorry. I'm Yuri Briar, Yor's twin." He offers me a small smile that I return. "She can be a bit much," he adds under his breath, to which I laugh.
"It's nice to meet you." We chat throughout the feast, about what it's like to grow up in the muggle world (I learnt they were half-bloods as well) and about whatever topic surfaced in our minds.
