2 days and funerals

You sold the house and most or your things aside from clothes and other things. You sold Alex's bed and told him that we were going on a road trip. He wasn't stupid he knew so thing was up when he saw you the night of the visit.

You were now at work you decided to change your hours to be the same as Alex's school hours. Just so nothing could happen to him. You never liked heading to work early and the new hours definitely made you tired. You gave your boss the two weeks notice just after talking with your father and Mr. Morgan. You would still have to leave two days early though and you would tell him you were moving so you needed your check sooner rather than latter. He was a very understanding man and you had worked for him since high school, he was like that one cool ass uncle who let you get away with everything.

Your shift ended in a hour and you had been dealing with a lot more people since changing hours. The store wasn't the busiest but there was still a fair amount of people that came in here.

You got a notification from your phone, a text message. It was Brian you gave him your number after fake flirting with him.

harveyyyy i haven't seen you in awhile did you quit or something???

Meow-
I didn't quit i just had to change my hours. Why you miss me ;)?

Bri-
yeah baby i miss you so much so dose tim he whines whenever your not there

anyways ig I should tell you im leaving town soon

Bri-
Wait why???

Meow-
Just been looking at a nice town house somewhere else this place was nice but I've got a kid to look after now so I should find a safer place

Oh, well I could get tims truck and help you move into that house too.

Meow-
Nah its all good I've got someone already.

That was your last response before you turned of your phone, not wanting to hear what he had to say anymore.

You had another co worker here you didn't know her well but she was friendly and funny she reminded you of Charlie she had blue eyes as well. You didn't want to be around her for that reason you can almost taste the puke when you look her in the eyes. You felt bad but you couldn't handle being around her for long. Thought she always seemed to try and get closer to you. Her name was Amanda.

She was stocking shelves nothing really needed stocking just a few things here and there. You wouldn't deny she was very attractive, but maybe you only thought that because she had the same eyes as Charlie.

Speaking of Charlie's his funeral was in a couple hours then your mothers was tomorrow. Which meant you had one day to leave. You really didn't want to attend either they were both open casket. That's what the families wanted.

What were they to do about the eyes..? They would be closed but it would be disturbing to know they weren't there..  Alex was also invited him and Charlie used to play jokes on your and but we all played jokes on each other. You missed those times... You missed them all, your mother, Charlie, and the way Alex was before he witnessed his own moms death. He wasn't himself and god you weren't either. Your energys together just made things worse but your tried your best to put away your own feelings to make him feel better. You were sure he felt like he might have been able to stop this from happening, take her place.

It was saddening he had nightmares from it. He woke up crying and screaming just about every night.

You looked at the clock on your phone and sighed it was yours and Amanda's break. You pushed yourself away from the counter and walked out into the back. The dumpster wasn't as pretty as it was at night. You pulled your pack of cigs and lighter out. You lite one and took a long drag.

"Oh y/n I didn't know you smoked." Amanda said startling you. You didn't hear her come out. You needed to be more aware about that kind of stuff...

"Yeah.. I have been for awhile." You said awkwardly. She nodded and began to speak.

"So uhh how would you feel about going on a date..?" She asked.

You chocked on air. Did you hear her right?! "I uh- I don't really know you all that well..."

"Oh... Well you can get to know me over dinner then!!" She said excitedly and hurried on inside.

You wouldn't be opposed to it if you weren't going to leave tomorrow. She would probably take it personally if you two had a date then you left town. And to be fair you would too. You were so gonna brag to Alex about this...

His cropse looked so cold and his skin was pale. You never thought you would ever see him go before you. You wanted that to be you instead of him.. You wanted to play hero and save him, but it was impossible all you could do is mourn. And you weren't to keen on doing that... You layed a yellow rose over his chest. The flower meant friendship, thats why you picked it. Because he was your best friend and you felt like he would appreciate it.

"I'm sorry you had to leave in such an awful way. I wish it could've been peaceful and I know it wasn't. You meant so much to me and I was always happy to have you around you meant the world to me. I know you would call me cringe if you heard me right now but I mean ever word if what I'm saying. I'll always remember you and I thank you for the memories, may your soul rest in peace.."

You stared at the Charlie's mother who was sobbing in your arms. She always said you were like a second son to her. Alex kept close by he was also crying but not as much as she was. You felt bad, you felt like maybe you could've stopped this... You patted her back.

"I'm so sorry ma he loved you so much... And I know you miss him to. It wasn't his time. You don't have to move on right away but remember you can't live in the past forever.." 'Ma' was the nickname you called her you also viewed her as a mother figure to you. She looked up at you and you wiped her tears. "Its okay..."

"Y-your right y/n... I can't be sad forever but I would want to be sad for a little longer.." She said with shaky breaths. "I understand stand you must be devastated too... I just don't know how I'll hold up with both of you gone..." She was the only one you told about your plan to leave other than your boss.

She let got of your and brushed straightened out her clothes. "Thank you y/n if it weren't for you he would've left sooner.."

"Of course ma..." You said patting Alex on the head. "I'm sorry we have to leave if I could I would stay."

Her eyes teared up once more. And she hugged you again. "I'll miss you three so much... I'm sure  Charlie's spirit is with you.." she stayed quiet for a minute. "Uh.. Actually I want you to come to the house tomorrow and go through Charlie's things... Think of it as a goodbye present, I'm sure he would want you to have some of it."
