Extinguished lights in corridor

How is it possible that such horrible things happen in such a prestigious place? I had the courage to ask her in a thin voice: "but you're joking right...?" Meghan shook her head and pointed me to a distant part of the corridor where I could glimpse a black shape walking quietly away from the chemistry lab. I almost vomited and wondered if the wolf I had seen before had something to do with this story- "Of course it has to do with it, what questions are you asking yourself" I thought turning to myself. We both didn't know what to say, when suddenly Meghan broke the silence: "I'm going to search the right wing of the school, you stay here and hide in case you hear any strange noises or something else". "ME ALONE?! But if I'm scared of a bug! How can I not be scared of being alone when there's a potential murderer at school who could kill us?! And then why go and check what's on the other part of the school when the only smart thing to do here is run away?!" I told her now in a panic: being alone in this situation was the last thing I wanted to do. "I have to go and check if the communications have been interrupted in the presidency's office: in case they should be out of order, we would have to wait until tomorrow morning before being able to contact someone" she seemed very sure of herself. "Why until tomorrow? Couldn't we just get out of here?" I asked her. "No. Do I have to remind you that the school gate opens only via the Bluetooth recognition of the principal's mobile phone? Well, if every connection is cut, the gate will open automatically tomorrow morning at 8:30, as well as the classic entrance time for all the other students," said Meghan: I kind of admired her, because she often knew more than the principal often did. "Okay fine, but I still don't understand why you have to go down there alone; I mean why can't I go with you? I promise I won't be in your way." Come on, I was literally begging her, how could she ignore me? "When you say you won't be in my way, do you mean you'll scream for help at every little noise?" she asked me jokingly. "Let's say it's possible, but I wouldn't want to believe it too much" I answered defensively. "In my opinion it's better if you stay here, also because you have to keep an eye on the situation". I had resigned myself and thought that deep down - very deep down - she might be right, so I decided to hide inside the wardrobe, being careful to close the door tightly; I realized shortly after that through a crack I could see the whole classroom. "I might use this hideout to scare my classmates in the future," I said with a chuckle, but I didn't realize Meghan was still there, so she scolded me and told me to shut up. Before leaving, however, she said to me in a severe tone: "If you hear someone opening the door and it hasn't been at least half an hour since I left, it means that you are in danger: don't make any noise, and don't try to get out, you will understand that I'm only back if you hear a whistle". After saying that, she mustered all her courage and went out, and I was left alone inside the wardrobe staring through the crack at the art classroom: "It's strange to see the empty classroom," I thought. But something jolted me from my thoughts: I heard the door open, and instinctively I thought it could be Meghan, but before opening the wardrobe I stopped to think: "No, wait, it's not possible that she came back so soon, it's just got out, it's impossible that it's her". A shiver ran up my spine and I wondered who might have entered, so I peeked through the crack. What I saw shocked me
