Ryu meet Sona when she was visiting Rias and almost instantly they got along, Ryu liked how smart and tactical Sona was and how cute she would be when she got embarrassed, Ryu wishes Sona was the one to reincarnate him instead of Rias. Whenever Sona would come over she would almost always spend it with Ryu talking about a Varity of subjects like magic they use, or different tactics for future rating games they would play in, they also really liked to watch rating games and analyse them, they often talked about there dreams while playing chess. Dreams like Ryu wanting to get strong enough to protect his little sister and the people he cares for and Sona wanting to open a school for low and mid class devils something that made Ryu respect Sona immensely. By the time Ryu disappeared he could say with certainty that he was in love with Sona, and the feeling was mutual as Sona had come to have feelings for him as well, she was heartbroken when Ryu was declared missing and later dead, she had planned to ask Rias to trade Pieces with her so she could have Ryu with her always.
