Chapter 22: The Fallen Sparrow

WARNING: In this chapter, Y/n never met Yao so she was never shown how to do what she does in the previous chapters. So her powers will be displayed by 'the scarlet witch' but some will also be displayed by 'dr strange' as well.

Flashback; 2014

Sparrow Y/n POV:
We were in our gi's uniforms, forming a line waiting for Pogo to teach us. Christopher wasn't with us because well.....he's a cube.

"Just because something is right in front of you does not mean... it is within reach." He says while checking/correcting our stances, "There is always something in the way. Sometimes it is your opponent. Sometimes it is yourself."

Jayme and Ben step forward and bow to each other and both get into their fighting positions, ready for the spat to begin.

"試合を始めろ," Pogo says in Japanese.

They started exchanging blows and blocking them at the same time, they keep going at it for a good 30 to 60 seconds or so before they start to use their powers. I couldn't help but feel worried for the two. It always gets ugly in here whenever those two were chosen to spar together because they aren't afraid to severely injure the other. Especially Ben. The next thing I knew, Ben starts to shoot one of his tentacles from his chest, knocking Jayme back down. Jayme then attempts to spit her venom at him but he whips his tentacle aside at the last second, making the fluid fly toward Marcus and Fei, who thankfully dodged it in time. Ben then shoots out one of his tentacles which Jayme avoids, they keep exchanging power blows at each other and dodging them.

I began to think, "This match might go on than expected."

I was cut off from my thoughts when I heard a crash and saw one of Ben's tentacles slam into one of the wooden posts, shattering it. Shad's started flying in the air. My mouth was parted when seeing Jayme struggling in Ben's hold, he sets her in a kneeling position with her back to him and her arms pinned down to her sides.

"You're gonna tap out or pass out? It's your choice," he says smirking in almost victory as he keeps a tight grip on Jayme, he leans to her ear. "Hey, it's your life."

He begins to tighten his hold causing her to grunt in pain. My heart started to pump faster while my mind was racing if he would do it.

"Ben, that's enough! Let her go!" Shouted Sloane, but Ben tightened his grip more.

Alphonso then looked at Jayme, "Jayme! Jayme, come on, just tap out." He says with pleading eyes, hoping that she'll comply.

"I'm afraid there are no tapping out in the real world, children." We looked to see it was Dad, making us snap to attention.

I could tell by Pogo's expression that this has gone long enough for him, "That's enough!" He shouted.

"No!" Dad yelled, "Jayme will let us know when she's had enough." He stated emotionlessly like her life didn't matter to him one bit.

Ben grins as he tightens his grip, at the last minute his eyes once on Dad shifted to me and saw my worried expression. His evil grin slowly fades as we kept eye contact. It wasn't until Ben let out a wail and collapsed to the ground in pain, that's when I noticed a chunk of wood was stabbed into his tentacle which released Jayme from his grip.
