“Freak!”

“Ugly!”

“Why do you have to look so much like her?!”

A child was thrown to the floor harshly, her small body thudding on the tiles as a large figure towered over her. Her father, who had been an abusive and deranged alcoholic ever since her mother left them, sneered at his daughter with disgust.

This wasn’t the first time this happened.

(Name) (Last Name) had always been abused and hurt by her father, who blamed her for their mother’s departure. Her mother had disapproved of her husband constantly drinking and gambling, especially when they had young (Name) in the household. One night after another argument, (Name) woke up seeing her mother’s luggage and things all gone. Her father’s temper got worse and since he couldn’t take his anger out on anybody without being seen, (Name) became his main target.

It didn’t help that (Name) looked exactly like her mother.

A true beauty.

Every time her father were to look at (Name), he would sneer and lose control, blaming (Name) for looking like her mother as the guilt would never ease away from him. His wife was known to be very attractive in the neighbourhood, and (Name) just so got her mother's looks.

The abuse only got worse when (Name) enrolled in university, as her delicate face and figure attracted many males who wanted to seek her out.

From her father then to the males who continuously mocked and bullied her to get her attention, (Name) soon lost it and found comfort in the only thing.

A mask.

A mask that would hide her from the world.

She purchased a mask from a store after her father kicked her out of the house. It managed to cover her entire face, allowing her some form of protection from the world. The mask was (f/c), a colour that reminded her of her childhood, and decorated with glitter and stars to make her reminisce the innocence she still had.

The abuse seemed to have stopped after that.

Her father no longer paid attention to her, as not seeing her face didn’t make him feel the guilt he suffered from hurting his wife.
