■Eddy ■

I breathed a sigh of relief as they let us go. I practically ran down the halls and into my car. I sped off towards my house and saw my mom on the porch a furious look on her face as she tapped her foot in her heels. I went up to her and she pointed an angry finger to the door. I went inside and took a shower and put on some gray low top converses, jeans, and a gray cardigan button up,I had a white shirt that had a big ass donut written in Sharpe . I ran downstairs to see that Maevis and her mom were already here.

"Eddy this is Maelynn and her daughter Maevis," My mom introduced

"Hey," I said simply

"Alright the food is set up in a dining room, if you will just follow us," My mom said as she led them to the table

Everyone sat down and light conversation filled the table we ate. My parents were at the head of the table while Maelynn and Nico sat on one side and me and Maevis on the other. I looked at her from the corner of my eye. She sat slouched as if she was trying to hide herself from everyone here. I smirked and sat back in my chair. I bowed my head and let my hair fall over my eyes.

"Eddy are you finished?" My dad asked a glint in his eyes. I don't like that.

"Yes. May I be excused?" I said through gritted teeth hating the fact that I had to act like some perfect child.

"Of course you can. You can show Maevis around Houston let her get acquainted with it," He said with a snarky look in his eyes, as if mocking me.

"How about no?" I said calmly but shot daggers out my eyes at him

"Eddy Ian Tekeli you are going to show this young lady around," My mom demanded sickly sweet and ever so calm. I freaked out and shot up from my chair grabbing Maevis' wrist as I dragged her out the dining room and into my car.

"She's scary," A small voice said obviously not meant for my hearing but I laughed anyway making her turn a bright red

"Yeah she scares me too," I said giving her a side glance before pulling off.

◆Maevis◆

We walked down the street with me occasionally stumbled over a stone but Eddy walked gracefully down the street. I shot him a nervous smile as he caught me from falling. I steadied myself and he shot me an annoyed look. I gulped and we started walking again.

"Why'd you move?" He asked suddenly breaking the silence

"My m-mom's job," I said simply

He just grunted and pushed me. I stumbled and the sound of a bell filled my ears. I looked up and saw we where in a shop. An ice cream shop. My eyes brightened and I practically ran to the shelf.

"Two double scoop cones one cookies and cream, one chocolate," eddy ordered. He better not get the cookies and cream one.

As soon as they gave us the cones I dove for the cookies and cream one and licked it. He just stared at me annoyed but took the chocolate and paid. We went and sat down in a booth the only sound was my content licking of my cone while did every other minute. The bell jingled again and I craned my neck and turned it around me to see it was some kids from school. I can tell from the red and gold Letterman jacket the guys were wearing. Eddy snorted as they spotted us and proceeded this way.

"Hey Eddy. What's up?" One of the guys asked casually and slid into the booth

"Who's the girl?" Another asked jabbing his chin in my direction

"Nobody important, well...to you at least," He said leaning back and put his cone on a napkin on the table

"Ohh I see you like her," The thrid guy said winking and wiggling his eyebrows at Eddy "Well then we better introduce ourselves. My name is  nak, this is lucas and Sagan,"

"N-Nice to m-meet you," I said trying to sink into my seat

"She's a little shy don't ya think. I always thought you'd fall for some A-Class bitch," Sag said with a look of wonderment.

"I could punch you out right now and walk away like nothing happened Sag," Eddy said through girted teeth but then started to relax "Either way I don't like her,".

I went bright red as the guys started laughing. I sunk down deeper in my seat. Great, now I'm a laughing stalk. Wait, why do I care? I'm Maevis L. Wolf. I'm a shadow. I don't need people to like me or be my friend. Yea. Why is my skirt and legs so cold? I looked down and saw my ice cream had dropped and fell on my skirt and got a bit on my legs. I shot up and grabbed a napkin wiping it off ferociously. The guys laughed, well everyone except for Eddy. I went bright red with embarrassment. I sighed as I threw the rest of my ice cream away. I looked at the guys before I put my head down

"Thanks Eddy," I said before high-tailing myself out of there

I walked down the street absolutely lost. Not the slightest idea of where I am. When we were walking I was mainly following him. I decided to go straight. When in doubt go straight. 20 minutes passed and I still wasn't home sure we took his car first but he dropped it off about five minutes from the store. Then from there it was like a 10 minutes walk home.

Geez could you be any much of a loser Mae? I frowned but decided to take a break at a park. It was illuminated by bright street lamps so I knew I'd probably be safe for a while. I sat on a bench right underneath a lamp. Sighing, I put my head in my hands.

I wish Dayton was here he would've followed me the whole time watching me fail and then once I least expected it he'd be leaning on the lamp and insult me, call me stupid. But that wouldn't matter because he was there, he didn't leave me. I let out a shaky breath and looked up to see a figure leaning on the lamp.

"You know you're really stupid. Walking around at night in a skirt. As dumb as they get," Eddy said

I smiled and ran up to hug him. He may be mean but at least he isn't cruel enough to leave me out in the night. He awkwardly patted my back before softly pushing me away. He grabbed my wrist and dragged me to his car shoving me into the passengers side. We sped off towards the house.

I frowned as he made a U-turn. I was seriously going the wrong way. We drove for like 30 minutes before he pulled up at my house. I got out and gave him a wave of acknowledgement before rushing in to my house. I took off my shoes at the door knowing that if I didn't mom would have a fit. I went to the kitchen to see if she took a night shift and there it was on the fridge.

Mae,
Night shift.
-Mommy
