"You're crazy, this is my base." Alejandro said with a laugh.

"It's not a base. This is a sizeable covert facility and I admire it - so I'm takin' it. You boys have been relieved. Thank you for your service." Graves smirked.

"No, no, no. I don't take orders from you."

"Didn't Valeria say that?"

You widened your eyes in shock, "Watch your fucking mouth, Graves."

He turned to you, giving you a disapproving shake of the head, and nodded to the two Shadows near you. They stepped to you, each grabbing an arm with a vice-like grip.

"What are you- get the fuck off me!" you growled, struggling to be released.

Panic set in, your heart pounding.

The only place you could look was at Ghost, who was looking back at you, arm slowly moving to his knife.

"Now, that makes me wonder what else I don't know about your affiliation with a drug-lord?"

"What the fuck did you just say to me, pendejo?" Alejandro said, moving to square up to Graves.

Soap moved with him, pulling him back before he could do anything, "You're out of line, Graves."

You couldn't help but chuckle as Graves moved back, clearly intimidated by the two soldiers invading his personal space.

"Don't do that. Don't...do that. No one needs to get hurt here."

"Oh yeah? You gonna make your monkeys let me go then?" you called from behind him.

"Wait your turn, sweetheart." he said, briefly side-eyeing you.

You grunted, moving to shake off the Shadows, but their grip on you was tight, and they were digging into your cut.

"Are you threatenin' us?" Ghost said.

"Soldier, I don't make threats. I make guarantees. So, let's not do this."

"I'm calling Shepherd." Soap said, turning to walk back to the car.

"General Shepherd sends his regards."

Your eyes snapped up.

You knew it.

You fucking knew it.

Ghost met your eyes, giving the same look as you. He remembered you telling him not to trust Shepherd weeks ago. He remembered promising you to keep an eye on it.

But he didn't.

And now he couldn't get to you.

"He knows about this?" Ghost demanded, his own panic set in.

"He's put me in command of this operation from here on out. So y'all need to stand down. It's time to let the pros handle this. Why the hell are we talkin' like this is some kind of negotiation? It's not."

"And who the fuck do you think you are, cabron?" Alejandro said, rage rising in him. "My men are inside!"

"I'm afraid not. Your men have been...detained."

"Cabron!" Alejandro yelled, lunging.

In the distraction of the soldiers incapacitating him, you kicked a leg back, thrashing your body against the Shadow on your left, knocking him to the ground. This gave you a free arm to shove the one on your right into the door of the car, his head smashing through the glass as he fell down unconscious.

What you didn't anticipate, was the medic lunging through the now-broken window, locking an arm around your neck and pulling your body flush against the car. He placed a cloth over your mouth and nose.
