- 7 Years Later -
It was supposed to be a normal day for the Swan siblings. William was with his girlfriend Harper, Ali was practising archery in their garden while Lucy was in her room sharpening her knives, she often did this after a practise session. None of the children were expecting their father home any time soon, especially not frantically calling out for them in a panicked tone. William and Lucy made their way downstairs, giving one another a very confused yet concerned look; It wasn't like their father to come, especially in a frantic manner.
Lucy and William bolted down the stairs and into the main hall, seeing the father breathless. "Where's Alison?" He asked, looking at the pair.
"She's in the garden, what are you doing here?" Lucy asked in a cold stone manner. She wasn't her fathers favourite and the feeling was mutual.
Victor ignored his daughter's harsh attitude and rushed outside to the archery range "Alison" He called out.
"Daddy?" Ali responded to the sound of her name being called by her father.
"Come on, now" He hurried her, heading back into the house, Lucy and William having followed him. "All of you pack a bag and get in your cars" He confirmed.
"Dad, what's going on?" William asked, confused.
"We can't stay here, the public don't know yet but there's a deadly virus going round, so you guys are going to the Greene Farm until this blows over, okay?" Victor confirmed looking at his children, his attention mainly focusing on Alison, his princess.
"A virus?" Lucy questioned, looking between her father and siblings.
"That's what I said," Victor rolled his eyes at his daughter's ignorance. "Now go, we haven't got long" He ushered them.
The siblings all made their way upstairs; separating to their rooms. Each of them packed some clothes and anything they might need to keep entertained at the farm. Lucy packed her knives, knowing they would entertain her at some point. Alison placed her bow onto the wall stand where it usually resided, there was no way that she would need it and if it was just a virus, it would blow over soon, right? She grabbed a handful of clothes and personal hygiene items and threw them into a duffle bag before running downstairs to join her siblings. William merely did as his father asked, only grabbing a notebook and football to keep himself busy.
Everyone met downstairs and went to the cars, each of them of course having their own to suit their personalities. William had a navy blue Ferrari 599 GTO, Alison with her white Porche 911 and Lucy with her sleek black Jeep Wrangler. The siblings knew the route to Maggies like the back of their hands, they had been going there since Ali was 6; Maggie and Ali were inseparable throughout their childhood.
They all remained close, all of them feeling panicked, William clutching onto the hand of Harper in an attempt to calm her down. Alison and Will both had their radios on while Lucy was listening to Metallica, attempting to drown out her anxiety about the whole situation; Her anxiety only got worse after her mothers unexpected death.
After a while they all pulled up at the Greene farm, they parked up as they noticed that their father had beaten them there and was on the porch in conversation with Hershel Greene, both men had stern looks on their faces but Hershels softened as the Swan siblings exited their vehicles and headed to join them.
"Be polite to Hershel, and respect his rules while you're in his home, okay?" Victor urged his children who were gathered around him, especially glaring at Lucy.
Lucy rolled her grass green eyes at her fathers not so subtle comment aimed at her. William, in a comforting manner, put his arm around her. Lucy leaned into him ever so slightly, letting him embrace her.
Maggie came outside hoping this wasn't another visit from some business man wanting to buy their farm again. Her expression completely changed when she saw Alison alongside Billy and Lucy. She rushed over and gave Alison a huge hug "What are you doing here?" She asked, her country accent thick.
Ali embraced her friend before conjuring up an answer "Honestly, Maggie... I don't really know. My Dad said something about some virus and we're here to stay for a little while till it blows over" Ali said with a shrug.
"Didn't know there was a virus, but you'll be safe here with us" She nodded to Ali with a smile "All of you will be" She looked at Lucy and William with a genuine, sweet smile, one that rarely left her face when Ali was around.
Ali threw Maggie a grateful smile as she turned to her father who was clearly getting ready to leave, he was the mayor of Atlanta after all so if there was a problem, he had to be seen to be dealing with it.
"How long will you be gone?" She asked, arching a brow, still unsure about the situation and her lack of knowledge of it.
"I'll be as quick as I can, but I can't make any promises right now" He responded, checking his watch. "I love you" He said to Alison, before looking up at his other two children "I love all of you." He said swiftly before turning to his car and heading away.
Little did the siblings know, this was the last time they'd see their father - for some time at least.
The Swans settled in once their father had gone, those last words he said weighing down on Lucy's chest. Alison was going to bunk with Maggie, while William and Harper bunked with Sean which only really left one option for Lucy. "No, I'm not bunking with Beth" She spoke bitterly.
The Greene family farm was spacious, but not as spacious as the home that they had just come from. With Patricia and Otis in the guest room, there really wasn't any other choice other than staying in Beth's room.
"C'mon Luce, Beth isn't so bad." Ali bartered with her sister, knowing how much of a distaste she had for Beth but trying to convince her anyway.
"I'll sleep on the porch, anything is better than sharing with her" She grimaced slightly.
Alison arched a brow "Daddy told us to be respectful, we're lucky they are letting us stay. You're not sleeping on the porch" Ali objected.
"Well 'Daddy' isn't here anymore" She mocked her use of the word Daddy, it always made her cringe, she was such a princess. "I will just sleep in my car for now" She shrugged nonchalantly.
"Have you even tried to get along with her?" Alison asked, really wanting this to work out. She felt a sense of responsibility for Lucy, with both of their parents being gone.
"Yes, you made us play together when we were younger" She rolled her eyes "It was torture, I would rather stick pins in my eyes. I'll sleep on the floor"
Alison couldn't help but chuckle at her sister's remark. Although the two couldn't possibly be more different, Lucy always said funny things that made her smile.
"Ok how about we make a deal. You stay with her one night, if she is really as bad as you say, I won't ask again and we can make space in Maggie's room for you?" Alison offered.
"Fine" She compromised with her sister, not wanting to make any issues on the first night, "But I swear to god if she sings i-"
"I know, I know" Ali interrupted before her sister had the chance to make any threats on Beth in earshot of any of her family members "Thank you" Ali said softly.
"You're welcome...Princess" She grinned at her sister, it being a nickname she had for her.
