My Beacon

I turn to see
The small upwards curve of your smile
And the spark in your eyes
I notice the way your hair falls in chaos
And the lines on your face remain so calm...
But too soon I blink
And see the pillow too plump
The cover too smooth
And realise you are far
So far away
Lost in a land of your own.
Suddenly I am
Lost empty alone.
My one beacon caught
In a different storm.
