Chapter IV

Amber

When the MC welcome the host of the event, ibinaling agad namin ang paningin sa kanya. All of us were indeed curious about this young man. Daig pa niya si Kuya, frankly speaking.

Agad syang bumaba sa hagdan at dumiretso sa harap at umkyat ng stage. This young man can make woman of all ages crazy with him. Oh yes I know!! Eh itong si El kanina pa nag iimpit ng tili at hinahampas pa ako sa kilig. Nakakaloka!

Pero I must say, he has the body and behind his mask, he also have a good look. I can sense it. You know, woman instincts.

Walang ano-ano pa ay nagbigay sya ng kanyang opening remarks. Napakahabang remark. At nang matapos iyon ay nagsipalakpakan ang lahat ng tao sa party na ito. But then all attention was diverted to a woman who just shouted.

"Take your mask off! We want to see you, Mr. Janus Garnet Evans. The whole you!" And all of us agree naman. Well of course! He had too! Siya ang nag organisa ng party na ito kaya dapat lang!

"Ladies & Gentleman, take it a little easy with Mr. Evans' mask. Maybe I should explain them already the secret behind your mask, Master. May I?" The MC said. Tumnango lang naman ang batang ito sa MC.

"Alright. So here's the deal people. Makikipaghalubilo sa lahat itong si Mr. Evans. Kapag hindi niya tinatanggal ang mask niya, it only means that he's intereseted to invest with you. Mapababae ka man o lalaki, as long as 'di pa niya tinatanggal ang kanyang maskara, remember that it will be all about business. Pero if Mr. Evans, removed his mask in front of a girl, nangangahulugan lamang nito na he wants to date with the beautiful lady. And spotlight will be given to them at doon niyo lang makikita ang mukha ni Mr. Janus Evans. And then we will give the two of them a little privacy to get to know each other. That is why the lucky woman will get the chance to have a private date with Mr. Evans."

Pagkatapos ng announcement ng MC maririnig mo ang malakas na bulungan ng mga tao.

"Oh my! I can't wait to see kung sino ang babaeng makakapagtanggal ng mask nitong batang to!" Excited na sinabi ni El habang ako ay nagbigay na lang ng buntong hininga sapagkat nabo-bored na ako.

"Sounds a good deal right people?" Tanong ng MC at nagsitanguan naman ang lahat.

"Well okay then. Let's get the party started!" And then they turn on the loud music.

Dali-dali namang bumaba si Mr. Evans and I think he would negotiate with other businessmen in his party. I wouldn't dare to ask kung bakit sobrang successful niya at the very young age. Open sya sa lahat. And this event has a double purpose. To invest and to socialize. Talaga nga namang lalago at lalawak ang negosyo nito. He's not scared to take the risk but I think he's a bit cautious too. I must say, his parents raised him well. No doubt.

The party went on and it's now 11:00. Oh God! I feel very tired and sleepy. Gusto ko nang umuwi pero itong si El ay wala pa atang balak umalis. She said awhile ago na hindi sya aalis hangga't hindi niya nakikita ang mukha ni Mr. Evans. Tss! Crazy, I know pero talagang pinanindigan niya.

Ramdam ko na ang pagdalaw ng antok sa akin ngunit bumaling na lang ako sa ibang direksyon upang makahanap ng pagkakaabalahan ang aking mata. And to my surprise, I accidentally met the gaze of this very famous young man here.

Ang ganda ng kanyang mga mata. Tila ba natutunaw ako sa mga titig niya. His eyes sparkle like the stars in the night with his heartwhelming smile. Bakit parang feeling ko tinitignan niya ang buong pagkatao ko? Not just my appearance but also he's in search of my soul.

Oh good heavens! Help me with this hallucination. Yep! Antok lang 'to. Pipilitin ko na talaga si El umuwi.

Binaling kong muli ang tingin ko sa katabi ko and with no hesitation, I interrupted El and Nathan's not-so-little-endless-story.

"Excuse me. Sorry if I barge in to your kwentuhan. Nathan, may I talk to Eleanor for awhile?" I politely asked.

"Oh yeah, sure. No problem. Take your time!" He answered with a very genuine smile.

Agad kong hinatak patayo si El at hinala papunta sa Ladies' comfort room.

"Okay, Amber. What was that all about? Aren't you enjoying the night?" She asked with a very irritating voice.

"El, I know you're having a good time here. And I'm trying too. But for heaven's sake, I'm just too bored and I feel very tired & sleepy. Can we just go home already? Please?"

"Ano?! Bored ka?! So nagrereklamo ka ngayon? Hey guess what, Amber Amethyst. Sa dami ng lalaking nagpakilala sa'yo wala ka man lang inentertain ni-isa sa kanila. Kung meron lang edi sana hindi ka bored at nakasimangot na parang binagsakan ng langit at lupa!" She scolded me. Gosh, El and her mouth.

"I'm just that not interested to them. Walang pumasa sa taste ko. Gwapo at mabait sila pero kulang. I don't know. I just don't feel the way I want to feel about them okay? Enough with this discussion. We're going home. Let's go back and bid goodbye to your lover boy." Matigas na sabi ko sa kanya.

"At bakit naman sa tingin mo ay susundin ko yan?" She said as her right brow lifted.

"Because I said so." I answered firmly and then crossed my two elbow infront of my chest.

"Pwes, Ayoko." Sabi niya. Tsk! I hate to use this pero huling alas ko na to sa kanya. Akmang aalis na siya pero muli akong nagsalita.

"Then I have no choice but to say your deepest admiration to Kuya. And still now, you still like him and he is your one time, big time crush"

Agad siyang napahinto at humarap muli sa akin. "You wouldn't dare!" She said with a panic voice.

"I can do that with just one swift." And then I took out my phone.

She gave me her deadly deathless glare "Fine!" At umalis siya agad.

Sinundan ko siya agad at muling bumalik sa table namin upang magpaalam kay Nathan. Ngunit laking gulat ko na nandoon na si Mr. Evans.

At dahil ramdam kong ramdam niya ang pagtitig ko sa kanya, agad niyang binaling ang tingin niya sa akin. I bow my head quickly because I feel awkward when we stare on each other.

Agad akong nagtungo kung nasaan sila upang makapagpaalam na. Nang nasa harapan na nila ako ay muli kaming nagkatitigan ng lalaking ito.

"Uhm, Mr. Janus Evans, I want you to meet these two beautiful & fine ladies with me tonight. This is Eleanor Jade Monford." Nathan pointed El. "And right beside her is her very generous & kind friend, Amber Amethyst Collins." And he faced me. Ngayong malapitan kaming nagtitigan, mas lalo ko ring nakita ang kanyang malalim na pagtitig sakin.

He offered his hand for a shake hand and so I offer mine too. But to my surprise, he kissed it and I feel the warm lips that he has that gives me shiver into my spine.

"Please to meet you, Ms. Collins." He said and our gaze met once again.

And then there was a moment of silence.

"Hmmm... I guess we should stay a bit longer. Right, Amber?" At bigla naman akong natauhan nang magsalita si El kaya agad kong binawi ang kamay ko sa kamay niya.

"Hmm.. a-ah.. s-sure!" Wtf! Why am I stammering.

"Let's seat then." Alok ni El. Akmang hihilain ko na sana ang upuan ngunit nabigla ako nang tumapat ang maliwanag na ilaw sa amin na nakakuha lahat ng atensyon ng bisita at kinagulat ko pati na rin ang lahat.

Then the MC once again speak off. "Well, well, well. It turns out to be that the Prince Charming found already his Cinderella at 12 midnight."

Oh my gosh! This will really be a long night.
