Her card, I need to read it. I look around and see it... bathroom, that's the place I need to go now. I hurry inside and start checking her card. It says Adria Olson, writer, author and her phone number below. I wasn't expecting this, I was expecting her to be a doctor, a teacher, anything but a writer. Robert steps inside behind me and I ask for his phone. He gives it to me nonchalantly. Let's see what Google has to say about her.
I type her name and the same, I wasn't expecting this either. Adria Olson, Los Angeles, California. Famous writer of the best sellers "my life without him" and "how I survived my family". Married, one child, 26 years old. Rock pop singer. Loves nature and sports, only child of Peter and Christine Olson.
So... she is 26. She doesn't look like 26 at all, I thought she was my age, she looks so young. I come out from the bathroom and see they are eating their food when suddenly, the beast's phone rings, he walks outside, answers the call, comes back, tells Adria something in a slow voice, comes to the counter and says to me "dude, I have to go, you know a man has other duties" he winks at me and leaves.
He didn't freaking pay for their food, if I didn't hate him before, I hate him now, but what about her? Doesn't she know what is he into? Or maybe she knows, but what makes her stay with him?
While they eat, I go to their table and ask her if they want dessert, Sophie says yes before I even say the word dessert, Adria laughs and says of course. When I come back with their plates, Sophie starts asking me so many questions about my accident that I got out of answers, so Adria stops her, gives me a perfect smile and I leave.
Once I see they are about to finish eating I go outside and start cleaning one of the windows with my good hand, still the movement hurts so bad but I need to tell her something, and here it's the perfect place for that, especially because Ingrid follows every move I make with Adria, sometimes I see her laughing, and others smiling like if she's watching a romantic soap opera.
They step outside, I walk to them and shily ask her "Hey, is everything ok? How are you going to go back to your house now that your husband took the car?"
She doesn't look frustrated as I thought she would be, instead she has a relieved look on her face, she smiles and says "Thanks for the concern, Andrew, but it's ok, we are going to take a taxi. But, wait a moment, why are you cleaning a window? That might hurt after only a day of the accident"
I'm tired of hiding my feelings, I better spit these words out now or I'll drown on them, this time I'm not smiling and my voice is serious but warm "Yes, it hurts a lot but I didn't want to talk to you inside, I was worried your husband left such in a hurry and you were here alone and with no ride for your daughter, either"
I see the blush on her cheeks, she looks down trying to hide it. She scratches her forehead, and after 5 seconds that felt like an hour, she looks at me and tells me "It's ok, really, we're used to be without him anyway, and I'm used to be alone to work, nothing to be worried about, Andrew"
Now that she brought up the topic, it's now or never that we can have a conversation, so I immediately speak "So, you're a writer, and a famous one, I sort of Google you, I was just curious"
She starts laughing, why does she have such a beautiful laugh, I'm melting.
She stops those green eyes on my eyes and my world stops. I want to kiss her, right here, right now. She smiles shyly and explains "I am a writer, the famous part I don't like to flaunt, but writing is my passion, and being a mom is my life. I'm sorry I can't stay to chat some more, but we have to go, see you next time Andrew and try to go home and rest, please"
One hour later and I am in my place, I did as she said, I really couldn't bear the pain anymore, I need to rest, but they certainly have different plans for me, who you may ask. Well, the people who are knocking at my door.
