Growing up wasn't an easy task as I wished it was. Unlike Sophie who I have always made sure she has a really good life, my life as a kid was pretty bad.

I was 6 years old when my mother told me I was adopted. It happened when I was 1 year old and she never told me about my real parents or at least about my real mother. I was afraid to ask her because the first time that I did she got furious. She cried for two days in a row and said it would be better if I don't know the truth.

I kind of knew it because she looked so different than me. She had this beautiful brown and curly hair. Her eyes were the same color of her hair and her child pictures showed me a totally different girl than I was. Besides, she never mentioned who my dad was. Every year since I can remember I asked about my dad until I turned 6 and she said she never got married, so that means I never had a dad.

However, she did have many boyfriends coming in and out of our house. I got used to be pretty much ignored by them all the time. Except when I turned 10 and one of them thought it would be a good idea to show up drunk and looked at me as a dessert. I managed to run to my neighbor's house when he came around. My best friend saved me until my mother got tired of that man and ditched him.

So, it wasn't everything bad in Lola's land. Lola was my mother's name. I say was, because she died when I was 18.

The thing is I never got a good relationship with her even if I wanted to. She never wanted to play with me, she was all the time shopping online, smoking and watching TV. There was enough food in our house everyday even though I never see her working.

There was nothing to do in that small town she decided to make me live in. My days were bored, I guess that's why I trained my imagination to fly and make me realize there was more than what I was living in that moment.

When I was 12 my relationship with my mother got really bad. My teen hormones started to appear and my mother didn't like my new attitude. Also, my curiosity started to rise up. One day when my mother was in a date with one of her boyfriends, I was trying to find one of my favorite books she decided to hide from me because I was grounded and I couldn't read that book anymore. I was in her bedroom when I found a box above her closet. I knew I shouldn't open it, but what if my book was in there? Indeed, I found it inside the box, but that wasn't all. I found many credit cards in it, too. And when I say many, I mean more than 10. The ones that had my name written on them.

I couldn't understand why or how my mother did to have all of them with my name on them. So, I went to the studio and looked for the wardrobe I knew she had her bills in. Guess what? Every bill had been sent to me since I was 1 year old. I couldn't believe what my eyes were looking at. Not even one bill was sent to her. I was losing my twelve old mind trying to figure out what was going on. Then, my curiosity went beyond what I have already found and I started to open a wardrobe after another.

It got worse, there were more than one hundred lawsuits directed to me. All of them from different banks and not only from the United States, but from Mexico, Canada, England, Spain and more. How could she support this family with no job? Now it was a no-brainer. How did she manage to get all those credit cards on my name? I had no idea. But I started to put the pieces of the puzzle together. I have been the one supporting this family all these years and she has been the one spending that money.

I almost died from a heart attack when I heard my mother trying to open the door of the house and I was with all the papers on the floor. Fortunately, she was drunk and she took her boyfriend straight to her bedroom. I put everything where it was and I went to my neighbor's house. Jackie heard all the story and she saw me cry and hugged me until I fell asleep. My best friend has been with me in the best and worst moments of my life.
