Waking up has never been something I particularly enjoyed, at any point in my life.
The sweet essence of sleep still lingering in your eyes and limbs, but the persistent clawing of hunger at your empty stomach.
I could really do with blueberry pancakes with caramel drizzled all over it.
Or bacon and scrambled eggs with some caramelized onions and toast.
Or anything really.
I'm so freaking hungry.
It is when I wake up, that I smell the savory scent of chicken and probably fries.
My eyes roll back further into my head than Jayden made them roll last night.
Well I guess laundry day is a couple days early because of that fine piece of man.
I giggle sheepishly as I remember the things I said to him.
"Kayleigh, it's too early for the levels of cholesterol floating through the air," I grumble as I reach over to my phone.
The 2 missed video calls from Jayden that stare back at me and a few messages.
Morning sleepyhead. I have a relatively late morning today. Last thing, I promise. When I'm done I'll be with you.
09:30Haha I knocked you out cold huh? Well I'm glad you're getting more sleep.
11:00Elizabeth and Peighton say hi and that they miss you. They're even preparing to send you some stuff through me,
11:45The mention of their names elicits a sluggishly pleasant smile on my face.
Just then, Leigh pops her head in through my door and gasps loudly
"Look at how hot your woman is Jayden," she squeals as she comes closer, the camera obviously pointed at me.
To say a blood curdling scream leaves my tiny lungs, would be an understatement.
Pillows and throws alike, found flight for the first time in their existence, and their destination was Enzo's phone in Leigh's hands.
Squeals and giggles, she makes her escape like a slippery little stick of butter.
I decide against running after her, because first of all, falling while naked has got to be the most embarrassing thing that could ever happen to anyone, and also the presence of Enzo's phone tells me that he's probably in the apartment as well.
The very subtle vibration of my phone distracts me from my annoyance with Leigh, as I answer the call.
"I heard a scream, what's going on? Are you guys okay? Daniel has already gone down," I can practically feel my mother's breath on my face, as she quite literally hyperventilates over the phone.
"Yes, I'm okay. I'm sorry, Kayleigh being Kayleigh," I huff annoyed.
"Jesus, Nandipha. Do you know how loud you were screaming for us to have heard you clearly from the floor above," my mother exhales with a touch of genuine disappointment and a distaste in her voice.
She simply drops the call without another word.
I hear someone practically bulldoze through the door, and roll my eyes at my father's antics.
"Woah, wait, please keep your calm Thorn. Your daughter is safe in her room. It was just a bad prank, we promise," Enzo voices very loudly sounding panicked.
