"Flat-lined?" I repeat with shock.

"Yes, we are trying our best to get him back." The medic puts a soft hand briefly on shoulder then exits the room hastily after Logan.

The room is dead quiet as most of the people in the room glance at my pale face. Well besides Susanne who is beginning to weep.

I look at her in confusion but not because of the fact that she is in no way related to Ethan and therefore has no reason to cry... I guess I look at her with confusion because it hasn't registered in my brain that Ethan, my best friend of 14 years, is medically dead.

Jayden looks up at me, sees my confusion -mistaking it for my wondering why she of all people are crying- and says, "You need to sit down for this one."

I do as he says still -in a daze- trying to work out what I feel in my heart, in my soul.

He looks at me then at his friend's mother who barely nods, then he looks back at me, "Where should I start. " he sighs

I continue to look at him with confusion.

"When Logan and Ethan were born, Mrs. Thusi, Now Mrs. Jones-Ceretti, here was still married to Mr. Thusi, Ethan's father.
To cut to the chase Logan and Ethan are brothers, twins. Fraternal of course.
So by the time the twins turned 1, they divorced.
They then stayed apart and lived as if the other didnt exist. Ethan was told that his father's new wife was his mother, while Logan was told that his biological father had passed away. Mr. Ceretti, Stefano, and Bruce, have been in his life since he was very little."

"It was just recently that Mrs Jones-Ceretti told Logan to invite Ethan over, because they had clicked -for the most part- ever since Ethan moved here.
Susanne wanted to meet this good friend that her son spoke so highly of.
All three of them were shocked when the truth came out.
Susanne didn't think she would ever see her other son again.
I'm actually surprised Ethan didn't tell you all this."

"Yesterday, he told me he had seen David, my mother's ex-husband, at school and a lot of violence replaced conversation." I murmur slowly.

"Oh about that..." Susanne begins cautiously through tears, "David really isn't your father, sweetheart."

"Ethan told me as much," I smile sadly.

"I heard that you know a lot about my family? Do you maybe know who my father is?" I push a little for an answer.

Susanne sighs and looks off into her lap, "Your real father was having an affair with your mother at the time."

"Your father was one the most wanted underground bosses on the globe. All sorts of things, from money laundering to drug trafficking but never murder. He was one of our biggest investors and we needed a safehouse for him. Your mother, daughter of one of our close friends, agreed and her husband did too when he heard how much we would pay."

"Your biological father fell in love with your mother and was driven to attempt to kill David. Sindi stopped him in his tracks, though, because it would be too risky. Not to mention it would blow his cover.
The affair went on for a while until one day I guess David questioned your mother about you when you were 3 years old. You looked nothing like him and only a little like your mother.
Your mother got very defensive and David became abusive. One day your real father found her practicality clinging to life by a thread.
When David got home he was almost killed by your father but he had called the police in time and your father was arrested for assault on top of all the other money laundering, drug dealing charges against him.
He was blamed for all the bad things David did. All the abuse and even some of the medical crimes David had committed.
I don't expect you to remember your father though, you were much too young."
