Trigger warning- mentions of domestic violence.

Celia waited in the quad. It was frigid weather. A swarm of students were bustling around the quad, waiting for the shuttle and a murmur of excitement filled the air, but Celia couldn't feel it.

Her eyes were drawn to a spot on the grass where, in the sunlight, a faint red stain could still be seen. She shivered.

Spotting Xavier through the crowd, Celia moved towards him.

"Hi." Her breath misted in the air.

"Hey."

"What happened after I left?"

"We took Divina to the medical room. She seems to be fine. The nurse didn't ask any questions. Let's go, get this shuttle and we can get to the weathervane before most of the school."

As they got on the shuttle down to Jericho, Celia saw Wednesday through the crowd. She was kneeling down next to the patch of red that Celia saw earlier.

The weathervane was relatively empty by the time Celia and Xavier got there.

"You walk far too quickly," she told Xavier.

"Time is of the essence, dear sister. Hurry up, let's order."

As they sat down in their booth, an awkward silence fell. Celia took a sip of her drink, before deciding to start a conversation.

"So, how have you been?"

"You literally saw me over winter break."

"Yes, well, I know, but we couldn't really talk. You were being watched like a hawk."

Xavier sighed.
"Yeah. Father was mortified by my actions last term. To tell you the truth, it's been hectic; all the monsters, murders, fear was all over the school-"

"No, I meant like, how are you. You spend so much time being Father's son that you never have any time to be yourself."

There was silence.

"Honestly, I don't know. Last term sucked. It felt like all I could do was worry. Wednesday seems to like me, but she still kissed Tyler. I can't ever tell what someone really feels about me; if they like me for my name or who I really am. I was worried about you, too."

"Me? Why me?"

"You know why, Ci-ci. You took the blame for that night and because of it I thought you were dying."

"I'm better now, though."

"You're not." Xavier reached out and pulled up her sleeve. Yellowing bruises covered her arm. "And it's my fault."

"You aren't the one who hit me."

"I didn't stop it either."

"It would have been worse if you had."

"Yeah. Yeah, good point."

Once again, they fell into silence. Celia watched as her drink got cold.

"Maybe we should go."

Xavier smiled.
"Or I could show you around Jericho?"

drAmA!! These few chapters are shorter and a little boring, but once the action starts, it starts!!

In the words of Tyler,
'You have no idea what is coming.'
