Allison's POV
"Hey Alli!" Peeta is standing in the Lynch's kitchen, surrounded by boys and girls all dressed in their swimsuits.
I give her a hug, and she apologizes again for what she said earlier this week. Then through the clear back doors, I see all the Lynch boys jumping into the pool. It's so funny how in sync they are. They all resurface and flip their hair in unison.
Me and Peeta laugh, and Val comes over from the group of people in the family room.
"Hey Alli, wassup girl?" There goes Val trying to be all gangster or something. I almost laugh but stop myself before Peeta notices.
"Not much, you?"
"You gonna get out of that huge shirt or nah?" His rude remark makes me self conscious, but then I realize I am the only one in the room wearing clothes.
I excuse myself and run upstairs to Riker's room. I open the door, and when I see a couple making out on the bed, I slam the door shut and try to open the bathroom door, but someone's using it.
I walk back downstairs, trying to find Rydel. I see her long blonde hair and her hello kitty bathing suit from the stairs, so I run to the family room to catch her.
"Ry, hey, Rydel!" I yell from the kitchen, trying to get her attention over all the loud music. Luckily she hears me and moves through the crowd to where I am.
"Hey, you okay?" She asks.
"Yeah I'm fine, where are your parents?"
"Oh, they're out of town for the weekend, Riker and I invited the school over!" I sigh. So this wasn't the plan after all.
"Well, I think I'm gonna go, tell Riker that if he still wants to see a movie later to text me." I start to walk away, but she grabs my wrist.
"Don't leave! Seriously, what's wrong?"
I shrug my shoulders, and she takes my hand and leads me up the stairs to her room. When she sees a couple making out on the bed, she yells at them and they leave. She shuts the door, and the small amount of silence is so nice. She sits on the bed, and pats the bed, motioning for me to sit next to her.
My eyes wander around her room at all the posters on her walls. I've been in here multiple times, but I swear, every time I do there's a new hello kitty poster put up. How does she even have space for more?
"Alli, spit it out. What's wrong?" She looks concerned.
"I just thought there was only gonna be a few people here."
"I'm sorry, it was so last minute. We didn't know our parents were leaving until last night. Riker didn't tell you?" I shake my head. He didn't say anything about it. "Well, still, try to enjoy yourself! Are you sure that was the only thing?"
"I don't know."
"Allison, what's going on?
"I'm just not comfortable with all of these people."
"You mean like, being in your swimsuit? Allison, you look like a model. Any of these girls would be lucky to look as good as you." She rubs her hand against my shoulder. "Seriously Alli, you look amazing. Now take that poncho off! Show those boys what they've been missing!"
I nervously take my poncho off, looking at myself in the mirror she has on her wall. I look ridiculous, but I have no choice.
"You look amazing! That bikini is so cute!" She points to the red polka dot bikini I'm wearing. I've always liked retro things, so when I saw this on the rack, I bought it without even trying it on.
She opens her bedroom door, and I leave my poncho and bag in her room. We walk down the stairs, and I see multiple sets of eyes on me. I hate being the center of attention, so when everyone in the kitchen looks up at me while I'm on the stairs, I almost run back up to the room. But Rydel grabs my wrist and leads me through the crowd out to the pool.
There's even more people around the pool, and when I look around I notice there is a tent with a table full of food. I take a mental note to avoid that area. I can smell the calories from here.
"Damn, Allison, you look hot." One of the guys from school says to me. I recognize him from his tattooed arms, but for some reason I can't remember his name.
"Thanks."
He starts to move toward me, and I back away. He wraps his arm around my waist and grabs my butt, trying to get me to kiss him. I push his chest, trying to get him off of me, but he's stronger than me.
"Stop." I whisper, but he doesn't care.
His lips press against my neck, and his arms rub all over my back side. I can't push him because he has me pressed so tight against him.
"Get the fuck away from her Mark!" Riker pulls him off of me and punches him in the jaw. I stand back in shock.
I've never seen Riker like this. He's never angry. Well he gets mad, but he's never this angry. His face is red and his hands are shaking. I want to walk toward him, but when I do, he just stares at me. His face looks so different. His eyes are black and his veins in his neck are sticking out. After a second, he loosens up, and his face relaxes.
"I'm sorry, are you okay?" He wraps his arms around me, squeezing me against him.
"Yeah, thank you."
"Let's go inside."
He wraps his hand around my waist, and walks inside, never letting go. Instead of letting me walk up the stairs, he picks me up in his arms and runs to his room. This time it's empty, so he sets me down on the bed and locks the door.
There's silence. He's staring at the ground and I'm staring at him. He still looks so angry, I wish I knew what he was thinking.
"Riker, say something."
"I don't know what to say." His voice is so sharp, it hurts.
"What are you thinking? Talk to me."
"Why would you kiss him?"
"I didn't! He did! I tried to push him away, but he-"
"He forced you? Was he drunk or something?!" He's breathing really heavily now, his back is moving so quickly.
"I tried to push him away, but he wouldn't let me go."
He opens the door without saying a word and runs back downstairs. I chase him, but by the time I get down to the family room, he's already gone in the crowd. I start making my way through the masses of people, when all of a sudden I hear screaming from outside.
I rush out the back door, and all I see is blood covering the concrete deck.
