School felt like being on another planet. Everyone saw her, everyone wanted to talk to her as she walked down the hallway. Breeana thought to herself maybe she did make a mistake with the car situation. Maybe she'd already taken the whole magic thing out of hand. As she stopped by her locker to clear her head, a senior girl approached her.
She had wavy mousy brown hair that fell into place. "Hey!" Her outfit was polished and her fashion sense was inspirational.
"Hi" Breeana smiled slightly, avoiding eye contact thinking she would go away.
"Your Cymbeline's little sister right?"
Breeana uttered a noise still making an effort to deal with the social anxiety she didn't know she had.
"Do you know if she'll be back anytime soon? We're in a group science project together and she's been sick all week."
Breeana looked at her disoriented, "Yeah she should be back soon..."
"Great! Can you tell her Yasmine said 'I hope she feels better?'
"Yeah..." Breeana closed her locker.
"By the way I love your shoes!"
Breeana looked down at the platform wedges she took from her mom's closet. "Thanks, yours are cute too." She looked at Yasmine's mauve suede pumps and smiled to herself.
Another girl came down the hall to stand next to Yasmine. She was just as fashionably dressed. "So what's the news Pretty Princess?"
"She'll be back soon, this is... Sorry I didn't get your name, I feel awful." Yasmine said sincerely.
"It's Breeana." She tugged on her shirt sleeve.
"Breeana, this is Cloe. Cloe this is Breeana, Cymbeline's little sister."
Cloe waved at her cheerfully, "Hey! Not to sound alarming, but Dylan's group, of all people, has already finished the assignment. Your sister has to get her paper done by tomorrow. My score depends on it and if I don't get a good grade on this project then I won't pass senior year. If I don't pass then I won't graduate and then I won't get into college and my life will be over!" She started to breathe rapidly, "Is your sister okay, am I the only one who thinks she's been acting kind of weird."
"No, you're not the only one."
"Cloe!" Yasmine nogged her side, "What she means is this is really important to us and we'd appreciate it if you would pass it on. Right?" She looked at her friend.
"Right, and we can't be late for class, right Yasmine?" Cloe gave her the same look.
"We'll see you around Breeana. It was nice meeting you." The girls made a bee-line down the long hallway.
It's one thing that she has to deal with Cymbeline at home, but covering for at school is just ridiculous. Breeana wanted it more now than ever to become invisible. Then she thought to herself, couldn't she? Just when the bell rang and everyone went their separate ways, Breeana ran to the nearest girls bathroom and made sure no one was there. She checked in each stall to calm her nerves because she had never skipped class before. This was a state of emergency. She wanted her old life back.
Taking out the book, she placed it on the cold porcelain sink and searched for the perfect spell. "No, not water. A-ha! Invisparent!" Following the book's instructions, she chanted in the mirror and snapped her fingers around her. Looking down at her hand she noticed her finger tips starting to disappear. The sound of footsteps coming closer outside made her jump. Panicking she closed the book and ran to hide in a stall.
"Since when does an older sister listen to their younger sibling? She's been out for a week straight. We know how Cymbeline is, she's a senior, she's not sick. "
