Having meddling parents who constantly bombard you with pointless, unattainable prophecies about your future was one of the many things Annabelle Addams had to contend with. She and her family sit in a car, on their way to Nevermore Academy to which is her punishment for her activities at her most recent school. At least thats what it felt like to her.
At Annabelle's old school, she had quite the reputation. Always known as the 'girl you should stay away from, otherwise she'll use your magic and do horrible things to you'. Which, they weren't wrong of course. Although the most recent pursuit she pulled there was known to be her last. She had an innocent brother who would always get picked on. She had tendencies to end it and knew just how to do so. In return to the slow-witted boys who bullied her brother, she unleashed poisonous snakes all over the football field while they practiced, giving them nasty bites with worse side effects. Unfortunately, no one lost a life.
Of course, she got expelled. Now she is facing the consequences to her actions, being forced to watch her parents eat each other on the way to her new school. She sat with the only family member she didn't despise, her black cat Luna. She made it very obvious that she wasn't happy with them.
"Anna, how long do you intend on giving us the cold shoulder?"
"Lurch, please remind my parents once again that I am no longer speaking to them"
Lurch grunts with an eye roll. "I promise my little red pearl, you will love Nevermore"
"Why? Because it was a perfect school for you? So then of course it will be for me, right?"
"Why must you be so stubborn Annabelle."
"I have no intention of following in your footsteps mother. I am nothing like you, and I never will be"
The Addams arrived at the large bricked building, entering through the gates. The second they strolled in she considered jumping out of the car and making a run for it. After she got out, she and her parents were greeted with the headmistress of the school, Mrs. Weems.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Addams" She went to shake their hands but Morticia and Gomez didn't move a muscle and only greeted her with a nod. She embarrassingly put her hand back down and turned to Annabelle. "And hello Mrs. Annabelle. I'm principle Weems, nice to meet you" She stuck her hand out to her, hoping she wasn't as cold as her parents. Lucky for her, she wasn't. Annabelle uninterestedly shook her hand and slightly rolled her eyes.
"Well then, why don't we all make our way to my office so that we can go over some things for Annabelle before she starts, shall we?" Annabelle crossed her arms, dispassionate about the conversation and the whole situation at hand.
"I guess" she said in a flat tone. They all made their way to the office. Of course Annabelle got a million different looks, just like any other school she attends to. Eventually they got to her office and all sat down.
"Annabelle is such a pretty name" Principle Weems stated.
"Any meaning behind it?"
"It's from my favorite poem by Edgar Allan Poe: 'Annabel Lee'" Morticia unfolded. "The wind came out of the clouds by night. Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee". Annabelle ever so slightly smirked at the reminding meaning of the very fitting name.
"Well you always had a unique perspective of the world, Morticia" Weems went on to explain how her and her mother graduated together and were roommates at Nevermore.
"And you managed with your sanity intact? Impressive"
"You've certainly had a very interesting educational journey. Eight schools in five years" she looked up at Annabelle, with worry on her face.
