Chapter 7: Nose Bleeds and Wrong Moves

Creating a girl group with your friends is actually probably the best idea I've come up with in my seventeen years of living. Not only do I get to spend more time with them, but I also get to be a first hand witness to their spectacular voices and how they blend well together. Now you probably think I'm just saying that because they are my friends, but I'm not. I literally get chills every time I hear them sing, even though I should be used to it by now.

Ever since we created 'Fifth Harmony', we have started to make it a tradition to meet up in the Music room after school and just mess about. Obviously we make music, too, but it's mostly just having fun. I mean, the demo isn't due till December, so we have plenty of time.

The day after we created the group, the girls went to their Music teacher and informed her of the changes they were having to their demo, and how they decided to do it together. I wasn't there when they told her, but apparently she was really happy and is looking forward to the outcome, meaning we can't disappoint.

Meanwhile, I am enjoying working with the girls because I feel like I'm actually of some use to them. They let me write their songs for them and I'm currently working on one called 'Leave My Heart Out of This'. I have the chorus but I'm still trying to work out the verses and bridge. The girls help me by inputting their ideas in here and there, and then I just make it sound like a song. It's actually really fun.

They decided to have a pop sound on their demo so that is the type of music I'm working on for them and it's actually coming along really well.

Usually during practice, the girls practice their harmonies in the sound booth as I am trying to come up with potential song lyrics and melodies, and occasionally, Lauren leaves the girls and hangs with me, helping me with the lyrics. She is so talented when it comes to writing and I'm surprised she didn't pick English Language like me; she's seriously got a way with words and I absolutely love working with her.

Due to all the time we've been spending together, I am happy to say we have become closer. The girls still mock me about my crush on her, but to be honest, I don't mind. I just like enjoying the time I have with her because even though she doesn't think of me like that, at least I think she doesn't, I'm just glad to be in her life as a friend. But I do have to admit that my feelings for her have grown stronger as the days go on.

It's just the small things she does that draws me to her; the way she furrows her thick eyebrows when she's concentrating; the way she bites her lip and looks down when she's embarrassed; the way she flips her hair to one side when she's singing; everything, really.

Anyway, currently we are in the Music room again after another boring day at school. The girls are practicing their harmonies in the booth, covering Taylor Swift's 'Red'. That's one song that they are practicing for the time being just so they can become familiar with each others voices and in my opinion, they sound amazing.

Meanwhile, I'm at the piano trying to figure out how I want to end 'Leave My Heart Out of This'. Do I end it at the end of the chorus or have a little melody at the end? It's actually kind of frustrating, ugh.

"You look like you want to kill somebody," I hear a raspy chuckle come from beside me.

I turn my head and instantly know who it is. Lauren. I smile, hoping to ease my expression. "Sorry," I apologise, not realising I'm probably glaring at nothing.

"It's okay," she says, a smile tugging at her lips, then she sits beside me on the piano stool. "What's wrong?"

I groan and slam my fingers on the keys in frustration, causing a loud noise of keys to be heard. "I can't get the ending right to this stupid song," I mumble, barely audible.
